Hearns would get Floyd out of there pretty quickly

  2. Why because some irish guy says so? I've never heard so much unfounded bullshit in my life.

    1. Floyd has never been stopped or even close to it.

    2. Hearns didn't get Benitez out there early and so there's a precedent for a slick defensive great fighter from the 140lbs division being able to last the distance with hearns.

Floyd was no short armed, no plan B pressure fighter like Duran.

It's also impossibly biased and agenda-driven. His M.O. is to take something from boxing history and put a spin on it that works for him...and then claim everyone else but him is doing it and get all bitchy when called on it.

Yep. Mayweather would have no answers for Hearns.

Benitez was a bigger man, with a punch Hearns respected a lot more and Tommy wound up breaking his hand midway through which required him to concentrate on the jab

Floyd has never been in with anyone within 1000 miles of Hearns... He can't outbox him, he can't slug with him... he either covers up and runs away and loses 120-108 or he tries to do something and gets his head handed to him

Knowing this would require actually seeing the fight as opposed to looking up the result on BoxRec.

because Hearns is a 6'2 guy and a master boxer with a 10 foot jab... nobody outboxed him... Benitez, Leonard, they had to come to him, they had no choice... it'd be no different for Floyd, who is smaller than either of those guys

yeah I hear you, Hearns was a freak who could do it all...His only chinks were his chin and imo his stamina. P4P I think it would be a different fight as Hearns was the bigger guy.

and Floyd grabbing an early lead and making Hearns come to him isn't out the realm of possibility. Floyd is a smart fighter and out of the Fab 4 Hearns is the dumbest fighter of the lot.

  13. Hearns was 6'1"..to be clear.

He looked Taller than he was because his most famous fights were against 5'9" Hagler and midget Duran (and Leonard too of course).

10 foot jab? Should I criticize THAT exaggeration motherfucker?

Anyway..hearns' reach would make things difficult for Floyd and as such he would win the decision. Floyd is more elusive though and Floyd could definitely hurt Hearns.

hearns too big for floyd. it would be interesting to see if floyd would go after him if he was behind on points. p4p great match-up i think in actuality the size difference would be too great.

Floyd could never outbox Hearns... ever

I wonder if anybody could outbox Hearns at 147 or 154.

Interesting observation - Floyd has only fought one man in his career who had a reach advantage over him (Oscar, 1"). And over his 7 welterweight fights the tallest man he's fought is Victor Ortiz (5'9 at a push) while the average height of his welterweight opponents has been less than his own 5'8.

Floyd loses clearly, but I don't think he would lose 120-108 or get knocked out.

But if Hearns was at 147 today, Floyd and Pac would be at 140 lbs right now.

Actually, if Hearns fought today he'd probably be 140 lbs himself, and Floyd and Pac would be at 135.

  21. So what are you saying? That guys his height or below, with less reach than him are made for him stylewise?

I'm not really jumping to any conclusions tbh, just an observation. Similar to the observation that Pac fought 6 consecutive guys without dangerous right hands after the Marquez fight. Doesn't necessarily mean anything, just raises some questions.

  23. ok. I was hoping that you'd fall into my trap.:crafty:

You see, Lamotta has less reach than Floyd and is 5'8".
