Which weakens Floyd's refusal to back off the tests to make the fight.

Glad you're seeing things my way.

You really can't shake your boner for undefeated records, can you? You actually have the juvenile perception that it means something in and of itself. Remarkable.

I hope Pacquiao isn't as petty as this Koncz guy is. I seriously doubt Pacquiao is offended or even cares that PBF has announced a May 5th date. And regardless, it's entirely within PBF's right to do so.

Now, on the other hand, declaring the exact site and date, as PBF has, indicates he has no intentions whatsoever of having Pacquiao as the opponent, since obviously, these things would be subject to negotiation if Pacquiao were a possible opponent.

PBF to a large extent has the same problem as RJJ, which is the idea that he need not share the spot-light with anyone. That he's the star, and everyone else is just an opponent. The consequence, of course, as we saw with RJJ, is one non-descript fight after another, while bigger, more competitive fights go unmade.

And PBF's mad at Merchant because he never gave him a fair shake. Ha ha. PBF wanted a picture of himself like Brittany Spear's. Ha ha ha. What a fool.

What I'm trying to figure out is if PBF and company want the prospect of a Pacquiao fight crushed and expelled from the discussion, or if they want to continue to dangle it as a possibility.

I think the temptation on the part of a lot of us is to assume that at the end of the day, PBF and company are rational actors. I think we may find over time that that's not the case - that PBF's juvenile mentality is manifest everywhere, and that petty and childish games are the driving force behind decisions we would think would've been left to the adults (there are none when it comes to PBF).

Khan ain't a risk. Floyd is sssoooo much better than Khan it's not funny.

That's high financial reward/low risk. Floyd and Manny are in a league of their own among 140-147 lb fighters.

mayweather jr-khan would be a more entertaining bout than pacquiao-mayweather jr

Yeah, apparently there's been arguments that thanks to Arum Floyd never fought Margarito, Cotto, or Pacquiao. How fortunate for Floyd to have a promoter that he dispised so much it prevented him from fighting many of the top guys in his division.

Here's the real rub. Floyd appears to be jealous of Pacquiao's much more positive standing in the public eye. So what does Floyd do? He insults Pacquiao, makes videos denegrating Pacquiao, and now this childish stunt where he makes a fight on the same day as Pacquiao.

So if Floyd is so pissed at Pacquiao why doesn't he just get in the ring and prove he's the better fighter? Only answer I can come up with is he's scared.

probably because Floyd would fight arrogantly and come forward...against Pac he would fight like he did against Corrales which was a great win but not too exciting.

You haven't cottoned on to sneaky Sly's ways yet Eric.

He's prepping the canvas to give Floyd more credit than he deserves for the Khan fight, by making Khan out to be more dangerous than he is.

a win over khan would enhance mayweather jr.'s legacy. would be one of his top 7 or 8 victories at worst

So by Floyd fighting Khan, but not Pacquiao that would prove you right o'brilliant one?

By the way I always thought the Floyd-Corrales fight was one of Floyd's more exciting fights.

Please wake me if this fight actually happens.

I'd like to see it, but so far it's not looking likely.

we have different ideas of excitement then. i will be proven correct if/when mayweather jr. faces both guys and we can determine which bout was more entertaining.

To be honest the fight was so long ago that I'm going off a very fuzzy memory here. But I always thought Floyd fought very aggressive even taking the fight to Corrales and that's why he dropped Chico about 80 times during the fight. Not saying it was Floyd's most exciting fight but it seems it'd be a lot more exciting than some of Floyd's other stinkers where he was too defensive.

You're right though about their being 2 different views of what's exciting. Whether one enjoys a close fight (Floyd-Pacquiao) or watching a domination (Floyd-Khan).

Mayweather spent most of the Corrales fight on his bicycle.

It was a brilliant performance, but not an aggressive one.

Haven't really seen a lot of fights where a guy being on his bicycle resulted in repeated knockdowns and the opposing corner stopping the bout, personally.

Being on your bicycle != boxing and moving, imo. Floyd threw more than double the number of punches Chico did..

wouldn't say those two things are incompatible mate, he got off first again and again anad again then moved, got off first, moved, got off first, moved.

Seems to take Corales about 15 seconds to get set to punch

Hopkins threw about twice as many punches as trinidad for similar reasons.

    *shrug*

to me that was Floyd's strategy for fighting, whereas getting on your bike is (again, to me) a strategy to avoid fighting
