    Different websites are reporting this.

I think this is a mistake, if you ask me. I think Rios is too big and too strong, even though Gamboa is the more talented fighter.

IF Rios walks into the ring weight 135 then it would be fair....but RIOS will come in at 147-154 easy..

...I think it can be a close fight....Gamboa will need to deploy a Mosley's fight plan vs. Margarito...

Wow. Rios is mid-level, but surely he's too big for Gamboa

i think there is a good chance gamboa might beat the shit out of rios.

He'll hit Rios at will. Different sized men though

  7. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

his talent may be enough to overcome the size disadvantage. if he can fight smart and be defensively sound, rios will be tired as shit from missing punches midway through the bout.

Needless to say, Rios would have a 15 pound weight advantage

There is no way in hell this fight is happening when other sites claim it will (1/28).

Gamboa's planning a fight at 130 in late January, while Rios (a HUGE 135) fights next month.

Between this, rumors that gamboa is staying at 126 and fighting donaire (whenever he moves up)... wish the media would be more responsible than typing every time a fight is suggested.

Hmm, I would be VERY surprised if this happens, a Donaire fight is more likely.

Both are awful fights for Gamboa though truth be told.

Donaire is smaller but would probably win because he's just an amazing fighter.

Gamboa is MUCH better than Rios but fucking tiny. He looks small to me even at 126.

At 135 Rios would just grind him down, I'd honestly be pretty damn surprised if Gamboa won.

gamboa would beat the daylights out of donaire. mismatch

^^^ probably. Both are way too hittable but until he proves otherwise, I don't see Donaire being THAt devastating of a puncher at 126. At least not against Gamboa.

My guess is we'll see Donaire-JuanMa before we see Donaire-Gamboa - a fight that might never happen if in fact Gamboa is moving up in weight.

arum may as well put donaire in with lopez, because he (actually either one) has more potential to become a draw than gamboa

Donaire hasn't even proven himself at 122 yet so I don't see how anyone can say he'd beat Gamboa at 126.

I don't think a whole lot of Gamboa but he's proven at featherweight whereas Donaire is not.

Wow, I'm surprised at these opinions.

Sure he hasn't fought anyone as big as Gamboa, and has proved nothing at 122/126, but I think they're a similar size, and Donaire is rangier and even faster.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out Donaire was outgunned by Gamboa, but if I had to bet on it, I would pick Donaire.

What makes you sure Gamboa would win?

The way I see it is simple, they are a similar size, and Donaire is better.

gamboa is stronger and faster than donaire. if donaires defense were better he'd have a chance. but he isnt difficult to hit.

I think Donaire is faster. Handspeed is equal but Donaire has faster feet and thinks faster.

He is hittable though I agree, it would depend on how well Donaire's chin holds up to a guy at least his own size, and how well he can avoid Gamboa's punches.

I agree he's stronger and would probably hit harder at 126, but I would still give the edge to Donaire. Faster, more skilled, rangier, and strikes me as more of a special talent than Gamboa. Gamboa is a special talent too, but Donaire even more so.

It would be a good fight actually, more interesting than watching Gamboa get ground down by the much bigger Rios.

Haven't seen much of Donaire but Gamboa proved in the Mtagwa fight that he can fight a disciplined defensive fight when he has something to prove. So if defense is the deciding factor here I'd go with Gamboa because he was really impressive in that fight.

As for fighting Rios, it would be retarded to make that Gamboa's first fight at a new weight.

I'd favor Gamboa over Donaire or Rios.

Gamboa is very similar to Floyd in how good he is at this same stage of their respective careers, imo. Donaire is sort of his Casamayor/Freitas combined and Rios could be his JC Castillo.

Just like with those opponents for Floyd, it wouldn't be a miracle if Gamboa lost, but I wouldn't expect it. I think both Casa and Freitas probably had a better chance against Floyd than Donaire because of their equal size. Rios, while having a greater size advantage than Castillo did, isn't as talented as Castillo was, imo.

In no way shape or form can I see Gamboa beating Rios at 135. No way.

The size advantage in itself would be too much. Not to mention that Rios has a pretty good chin, good power, and applies alot of pressure. On a small guy like Gamboa, that will take its toll sooner or later. Gamboa was knocked down by Salido at 126 and had a few problems. Fighting Rios is a whole different matter all together.

Gamboa has some balls to try. I'll give him that. But Bam Bam is too big and too strong. Its really as simple as that.

Gamboa might get laid out by Donaire. As far as I'm concerned Donaire is the better fighter of the two. And why the hell is Rios so damn overrated on this site? He's basically a LW Margarito.

Margarito was much better than Rios, IMO

That might be true. But Gamboa is unproven at 135 and the size difference would be immense.
