Since when was moving and agression mutually exclusive entities in boxing? Corrales was knocked down five times and stopped. If Floyd managed to do that while not being agressive then he's much better than any of us realize.

 

How do you figure? Pacquiao's never in a boring fight.

 

The KDs were a product of him having better pop at 130, great timing, and Chico's less than stellar chin.

I don't think it was one of Mayweather's more aggressive performances in terms of punches thrown or the direction he was moving.

For example, he spent more of the Judah, Ortiz, and Mosley fights on the front foot, and threw more leather against guys like Ndou, Corley, Gatti, Augustus, Gerena, Chavez.

Floyd already trying to sabotage the fight before it's even talked about. Who books a date and site without ever having talked to the other party? What a cunt.

 

No one's criticizing the performance. We just seem to have a different interpretation of what "aggressive" is.

 

Floyd hardly took a forward step all night. Phenomenal performance but I can't really see to calling it aggressive.

Well yeah, there was no need for Floyd to be aggressive. He had a perfect, or near-perfect fight. It was in his best interest to fight the way he did.

Against Khan, it would be in Floyds best interest to be more aggressive and walk Amir down, since Khan isn't very effective on the backfoot. Which is how this discussion came up.

But I'd rather see a non-aggressive Floyd fight Pacquiao than see an aggressive Floyd beat up Manny.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is an infinitely better matchup.

 

Pac/Floyd would be FAR more entertaining than Khan/Floyd

 

It was a counterpunching clinic until Corrales showed signs of wear and tear (7th round) and then it became a clinical beatdown. Floyd became rough with him once he knew that he was stronger.

Nevertheless I understand the general point.

For some reason i keep picturing Whittaker vs Hurtado when I look at this matchup.

Floyd is a lot more dedicated to being in shape, being prepared than Whitaker was at that stage. And for all of his flaws and his ten-cent chin, Hurtado had a strange and difficult style with surprising power... he was very problematic for his opponents, even if the two best he faced eventually knocked the crap out of him.

Khan has some speed and length that could make Floyd a bit uncomfortable, but I'm not sold on his ability to take sharp punches, his tendency to overcommit on combos makes him very vulnerable to a great counterpuncher like Mayweather, and I don't believe in his power.

 

I see Mayweather-Khan being similar to Floyd's fights with Mosley and Judah.

Khan has some early success, then spends the rest of it getting walked down and basically, gets his ass kicked.

 

Yeah I feel the same about that matchup.

Khan gets by on his size and speed mostly. I can't really say I see him showing tremendous skills in his fights. And against Mayweather, a guy who is a master of all styles basically that would be a problem.

I can see that fight happening next May, honestly. It wouldn't even surprise me if they move it to the UK just so that Floyd can fight in Wembley Stadium since he's talked about it in the past.

 

You're right of course, its just a picture that comes to my mind when I think about the fight....Mostly Khan taking a lead and Floyd coming on late to stop him in a fight that has way more drama than expected.

 

Mosley? Even Khan won't do that badly. At least not for 95% of the fight like in Mosley's case.

 

The first 5-6 rounds of Khan/Floyd will be be interesting, but going into the second half of the fight Floyd will pick off Khan relatively easily.

I don't think Khan has particularly very good stamina.

 

It'll probably be Mayweather-Khan, and remember I told you this first, a longggg time ago

the rest of Khan's resume is a very tough go with Maidana, who I'm sorry, totally sucks and Zab Judah... I don't see how he's really appreciably better than Hurtado... Similar level of fighter at this point... the difference is in the PR behind him and the general shittiness of the current scene
