Ricky Burns vs Michael Katsidis - Final Predictions fellas.

I would love to see Burns pull this off, but I can't see how he'll fend off Katsidis and outbox him all night, as I don't think Burns has the real tools necessary to. I think burns is pretty slow, basic and predictable and Katsidis will be on him like a dog on heat - whippin' in body shots and smothering Burns, but I do see Burns landing some good digs of his own in this fight, especially early on.
This should be a very good fight while it lasts and Burns may do well early and may even be able to absorb what Katsidis throws at him and give him something back to think about, but I can't truly see it and think Katsidis will be too hot to handle and should stop Burns around the 8th or 9th round.

If Katsidis wins that will be three Brits on his resume, including Earl and Mitchell and on British soil.

Thoughts, Gentlemen.

 

Even though Katsidis isnt very good, you need to be world class to beat him. Marquez, Casa, Diaz, and Guerrero are all world class.

Kat can beat decent/good fighters like Escobedo, and Mitchell.

So I'll take it that he'll beat Burns.

Yea he is. Burns is easy to hit, Katsidis will get through ALOT.

Did you watch the Laryea fight? He was tagged a fair bit - imagine what Katsidis will do. Both guys like to work the body, but Katsidis is better at it. This COULD end very early in favor of Katsidis.

 

Katsidis is good at beating up other white fighters, but as soon as he fights someone of a superior race, he loses.

 

NO WAY, he JABS AND MOVES DID U NOT SEE THE Martinez FIGHT, HE WAS A NIGHTMARE TO HIT. HE WILL USE SAME TACTICS AND OUT POINT KATSIDIS EASY! katsidis is coming off two bad defeats, this is great time for burns to fight him, i wouldnt be supprised if he gets knocked out again, you cant keep taking punishment like that.

You cannot seriously compare Roman Martinez to Michael Katsidis :scratcher:

Katsidis is NOT Martinez. Different type of fighter, different type of animal. Burns is not busy enough or good enough to keep Katsidis off him all night. It doesn't matter if Katsidis has come off 2 defeats because the 2 defeats came against FAR superior opponents and Burns is not JMM or Guerrero. Not in the same league as those guys. Katsidis WILL land plenty and plus we will see how Burns' chin holds up against a powerful guy like Katsidis. I don't think Burns hits hard enough to soften up Katsidis.

If Burns DOES pull this off, I will change my signature and keep it forever saying ''Barneyboy is the truth, no doubt, he is the truth, I hail thee Barneyboy'' :: Or something similar anyways.

 

Katsidis gave JMM a fight before being stopped and remember he knocked JMM down too in round 3.

 

Yeah, I watched Burns-Martinez on youtube the other day, and I basically agree with you.

Burns only chance is if Kat has suddenly turned very old overnight.

If he's still the same fighter that showed up vs Marquez, and Guerrero, he'll grind down Burns.

Burns isnt a fraction as good as Marquez, or Guerrero.

 

Burns isn't a bad fighter, but it's just a terrible style matchup for him. Jimmy nailed it - Katsidis brings far more to the table than Martinez, who is equally as fun but twice as limited.

Plus, Burns struggled badly to make weight even in moving up a division. Would hate to see what would've happened had he remained at 130 and flown to the US to face Broner.

Anyway, I like Katsidis to become the first to stop Burns, somewhere in the middle rounds to give him the UK hat trick.

 

Burns has alot of heart and courage, for sure. He's shown it in his past fights, especially against Martinez and only a fool would take that excellent win away from him.

I want to pick Burns to get a decision and outlast Katisdis, its not cos Burns is so good but Kat, like a true Greek, has had his arse kicked by a lot of different people very recently, I fear he could be about to default, and that the Pennywise Pict might just be the man to rifle his drawers.

However, the sight of Burns going down in the opener to that slow Puerto Rican guy is enough to make me think that he loses this one.

Burns jabbing, Katsidis has his hands up, trying to close in, throwing that stupid bent right arm of his....Burns showing a quality jab but a soft right hand, Burns looks comfortable, Burns pushing his shots a little bit, Katsidis crowding, throws some low shots is told to keep them up, Burns throws a combo and finishes on a clean looping left hook to the ribs. Round 1 Burns.

Burns gets off with a chopping right, Katsidis covers up. Katsidis continues to crowd, Burns smothers, Katsidis a little bit hurt off a right hand, Katsidis circling, Burns jabbing, Burns looks a good bit bigger, Katsidis timing looks off, Burns moves off, Katsidis tries to get off some body shots, he looks laboured, Burns shows the right uppercut, reverts to the jab, Kat looks flat when he is up close, Katsidis goes to the body with a right hand, round ends.

Katsidis showing slight eye damage {left} Now Katsidis tries to let his hands go with something more on them, Burns uppercuts counter, Katsidis continues to press, Katsidis hitting the arms, almost deliberately, Burns shows a slick uppercut off the ropes and steps off to fire a good left downstairs.Burns lights him up with a left hook downstairs and a swift left to the skull as Kat drops his elbow, snaps his head back. Kat waiting too long to pull the trigger, seems a half-gear too slow.

Katsidis tries to get off a right hand that half-lands, Burns goes back to the jab, Burns gets a little bit wild off the ropes, Katsidis hitting gloves and arms, Burns lands a decent body shot, Burns doing a bit of holding now, Burns has a sneaky right uppercut as they maul, Burns does a good job of keeping his hands up as Katidis burrows in, Katsidis goes low again, moving his hands, no real damage done by Katsidis yet though, Burns lands slick counters off the ropes, that flurry at the end might have won him the round, Katisidis lands a low blow again.

Katsidis corner telling him to go up the middle. Katsidis is 4 round down. Burns drives Katsidis back with a long right, then tries another which is half blocked. Burns jabbing, Kat circling, hands up. Katsidis lets his hands go, all blocked, Burns grins back. Burns feints a right to the head, and then sweeps it to the belly. Kat tries to come back with low slung shots, no dice. Katsidis lands a stiff left to the belly, works his way in, and has success. Burns racks off a double jab, right hand then that sweeping arcing left down to the gut. Katsidis keeps coming. Burns lets rip a wild left, misses. Katsidis lands good clean bodyshots, some half-blocked.

Familiar programme, Burns jabs, Kat waits, Kat crowds, Burns holds. Burns tries to push Katsidis back. Katsidis gets a bit dirty. Kat tries to counter more Burns jabs with a jab of his own to the belly. Burns feints a right to the head, then rips a left, Katsidis crowds, Burns blocks, Burns gets off a right hand, Burns doing the cleaner work, Katsidis trying to nick it maybe, Katsidis landing but its all blocked, Burns rips off that left downstairs again.

Does Katsidis look done, or is Burns just fighting well?

 

Round 7

Burns people tell him that he hasn't lost a round and that he needs to put more MUSTARD on his shots. They don't specify what sort. No music between rounds. Katsidis only clean shots landed have been to the body. Burns right uppercut off the ropes is working so well. Burns cant miss with that looping, low-slung right to the gut. Katsidis is moving his hands and hoping to establish a pattern or an opening but Burns is refusing to stand still, he counters, runs, jabs. They swap hooks. Kat just can't set his feet. Looks shot or very jaded. Burns holds on and Kat clubs with his free right hand on the inside. Katsidis moves his hands but Burns shows a tight D and rides it out. Katsidis trying to mount an attack. Burns rips to the body and then head with the left, Kat comes back with a right.

Katisdis 10-9 but......close.

Burns is fighting well. Whenever Katsidis sets his feet he gets a jab in his face, and Burns just isn't presenting him many opportunities to get through. He's picking nice quick uppercuts and left hooks too, and the body shots are really nice when he lets them go.

 

Good bout so far. Agree with Irish on every round, although I can see a case for Katsidis in the 3rd. Have a feeling Katsidis is about to take over

 

Katsidis pressure taking its toll now, pressuring Burns to the ropes. Burns needs a second wind.

 

Round 8

Katsidis being told not to bounce, but to walk. Katsidis starts very strong, throwing a lot of LOW blows and shots onto the arms. The tape comes loose from Burns glove. Time out to attend to it. Katsidis looks laboured in comparison to what we have come to expect. Kat steps it up, lands heavy shots, Burns rips that left downstairs again, and again, and Katsidis felt those, they have been the quality punch from either man. Burns shows the right uppercut again, another right from Burns. Volume from Katsidis, quality from Burns. This is the worst Katsidis I have ever seen. Burns seems to have slowed a small amount. Again Kat shows volume Burns shows the quality downstairs. Katsidis moves his hands, lands nothing, Burns moves off.

I am giving that to Burns on the quality.
