Canelo would not beat this Kirkland. Kirkland executed a plan well that anticipated this happening. Perro had one plan and did not have a B plan to back off after a minute and regroup so he gave up his legs power and body in the process. Props to all the training Kirkland was given. Ringo

I'm not so sure about that.

Kirkland still has a bad chin and is still vulnerable to precise counter punches. Any fighter that has any semblence of skill and awareness to pace themselves would have had Kirkland outta there in the 1st round.

I still don't believe in Kirkland just because he pulled an upset over a guy who is a big puncher but who has limited craft.

Seriously, Angulo being dead exhausted 2 minutes in tells the tale of this fight

Kirkland will get ANNIHLATED the next time he faces someone living who can punch straight and with essentially average speed

Fun fight for a few rounds. You cynical bitches need to just enjoy it for what it was. :nono:

Last couple rounds were scary. I hope Angulo isn't permanently damaged. He took an absolutely horrific beating.

I was an extremely fun fight, indeed.

Is Ishida American? If not, then no.

Max Kellerman: [IMG] "Ishida will forever be known as the guy who lucked out on a hapless and out-of-sorts Sugar James Kirkland. Now where the fucking cheese at"

How'd you like the fight Irish?

I found it to be a decent scrap between two limited fighters, but not the best fight in boxing history, just a decent, Grade B scrap, probably wouldn't have gotten onto an undercard at the legendary Blue Horizon 30 years ago, but epic by todays non-1981 standards.

You see, I'm not the only one who gets pissed off with Kellermans endless re-labeling. Kellerman should get a job in a meat-packing plant, labeling cheap mutton as expensive Grade-A lamb. He's such a fucking shill-boy. It was a decent fight, a not-totally unexpected outcome, but it hasn't rescued boxing. Kellerman was silent as fuck when Martinez destroyed Williams, he needs to come down off his Red, White and Blue high-horse.

Never said you are. You just let it dominate your perspective on every single fight he calls.

I was watching the bout with some friends and we were busy actually talking about the action in the ring. Didn't pay much attention to the broadcast. Was a fun few rounds.

The broadcast is significant. When people are taking money to bullshit the fans, then it is significant. If a Senator is taking money, if a Congressman is taking money, if a broadcaster is taking money, and they are talking shit and foisting an agenda on their benefactors, then it gets on my case, and it should get on yours too.

Also, Kellerman favours American fighters, unjustly in many cases.

I don't think Kellerman called it the best round ever. "Round of the Year" may have come up. Roy Jones called it "Fight Of The Year" after two or three rounds.

I think everybody watching was thinking that early on. I don't think anybody expected Angulo to fall off the cliff and get dominated so quickly after his fast start.

He looked like a baby rag doll in there the last two rounds. I don't know how he was able to stay on his feet before the stoppage.

  27. Irish

    Irish Yuge, Beautiful

    Yeah yeah, something like that.

Angulo started fast for the reasons Reed indirectly suggested: he had no preparation and just went for bust, he probably took in the Ishida fight more than we did.

Angulo managed to stay on his feet for one simple reason: Kirkland, as I reference the Vera fight, really doesn't have the punch people think he did.

What's with the Daryl Stingley avatar? You a big fan of spinal injuries?

  29. Irish

I find that an avatar of a minority sports-star help stave off bannings and such like.

Nah, seriously, I have an interest in American football, I study lots of sports, looking for bits and pieces that interest me, I came across him and his story when I was reading about the Raiders, and it interested me. I felt sorry for him.

Kirkland's a fun fighter, win or lose. Take it for as long as it lasts. He'll be shot in a couple years and will probably get starched by somebody before that, but you'll get your money's worth with him.

That's what fans (most) pay the dollars for. That's why Gatti sold out Arenas on a regular basis, in an era in America where it isn't easy to sell out Arenas, no matter who is fighting.
