I agree Steve and I thought Marquez won the fight.

Pacquiao clearly won. Marquez just did better than anyone thought.

That said, styles make fights. Floyd has problems with southpaws and he's slowed down.

I scored the bout for Pacquiao. But he has no chance - none - vs. Floyd.

Nearly everyone on my Twitter feed (in fact, all but two people) had Marquez winning. I had 1 rd for Pac that probably should've went the other way, which makes my card a draw. Yet I don't feel guilty about having Pac win.

What I don't get is the claims that it was this great fight that lived up to the other two. Atmosphere makes it a great event but I didn't see a great fight take place in the ring. Barely saw a good fight out of it, TBH

    I had Marquez 7-5...a clear 7 rounds.

I'd said a few months ago that Floyd vs Manny would be one of the biggest big fight mismatches ever...

    Tonight makes that point stronger.

I think Marquez looked much better tonight than he did when he fought Floyd

HOWEVER, Pacquiao looked slower on the trigger (particularly with the left) than he ever has and if he hopes to compete with Mayweather he better bring a sharper game than the one he brought tonight

I think it's clear that both Floyd and Pac have faded a little bit, but of the two Floyd still looks sharper, based on tonight anyway

    same

It was a solid, professional fight, but compared to the outstanding duels that took place in the first two, I'd say this one was a major dud

Part of the reason is I don't think many thought Marquez would look as strong as he did, and I think that also led to people believing he won because he did beter than expected

I wouldn't have a problem with scoring the fight for Marquez, it was super close, but that's the point - the rounds were so close there's no way you can say Marquez won 7 clear rounds.

I thought Manny won the fight 7 to 5, but the majority of the rounds were very difficult to score.

Pac is slower period, people got caught up thinking he was better and faster than ever well of course when your fighting bigger slower pressure fighters.Marquez is a different animal compared to what Manny's fought at 147/154

Manny has lost a step or two.
I think Mayweather also has but he's adjusted his style to compensate.

That's why Mayweather is such a cunt. He would easily beat Pac. I want Pac to win, but I can't see how. I'd rather see Tim Bradley get the shot. It would be a better fight. Mayweather wins 9-3. I can't see how Pac win no matter how hard I try.

That's always a big factor when you get a big underdog doing way better than expected, it was even a factor in the first fight with his amazing comeback.

Gotta say Pac looked awful tonight though. Still mobile but slower, much slower of hand and foot, especially his hands. Straight left was slower and sloppier, usually it's razor sharp and lightning fast.

while this is no doubt true, he's also a 38 year old lightweight

Pac's reaction after the fight was a bit of a giveaway - he knew he was in trouble.

When it was announced, he could barely celebrate - hardly a winner's reaction.

FYI I had money on and was rooting for Pac.

Mayweather has a style that isn't THAT predicated on speed or power. He has amazing defense and ringcraft.

Pacquiao is all about the speed/power/mobility, and now he seems to be losing that finally, he won't even be close to the force he was.

I don't put any stock in that sort of thing, the "did the guy raise his arms after??" thing

I've seen guys who lost 118-110 thrust their hands skyward in victorious rapture after the bell

He thought he lost. No question. That said, he might have bought the hype and though if Katsidis can knock this guy down, I can top him. I didn't think it was clear either way.

Though not as bad as he's been in the past but there were times Lampley called shots for Manny that clearly fell short and times Manny was tagged and he continued on with whatever point he was making.

I just felt Narquez clearly disrupted Manny's timing which in turn made Manny more tentative when coming in. Once boxers get Manny thinking in the ring, concerned about counters, they're going to have the upper hand.

Floyd will dominate Manny. It's not inconceivable to think Floyd does to Manny what Manny did to Hatton...not in the second round but at some point he uses Manny's aggression against him and catches him coming in.

Back on point...after the first six rounds I thought Marquez was up 4-2, not the other way around like Lederman had it.

  30. word.

Floyd would dominate him. But of course us Floyd fans didn't need this fight to know this.
