Then "fourmatched" Marquez and lost. (clearly)

What would be to make of the whole "mess"?

I know you're a Marquez fan (as am i) but that's a pretty big stretch.

Floyd is a horrific style matchup for Marquez but there's still no getting around 12-0.

marquez has had a greater career than mayweather jr. all that their fight told me was that marquez knocks him out if they are the same size. he was able to land shots that drop and hurt most men he faced

Size played a factor but Marquez never beats Floyd.

whiskey, that wasn't even a fair fight. Marquez weighs in at 142, Floyd 147, Marquez looked like he was literally carrying an extra 7 pounds of fat into the ring.

This roided up Marquez looked much better, bigger, faster, stronger.

Marquez still loses to Floyd because it's a horrible style matchup for him, but he kind of had everything going against him in that fight, style, size, age etc

That's what the word "if" was for.

It's not like it's some ludicrous impossibility.

After the Oriz fight many were saying that Floyd looked slower and that if he was in there with Pac he would have been in deep trouble. Now after last night it's the reverse again. Happens every time Manny or Floyd fight.

    Exactly.

After last night it seems like Floyd is the same pick, admittedly I thought Pac would walk through Marquez this time.

But let's not pretend it would be shocking if Pacquiao did win, there is a reason why Floyd has bitched out of the fight thus far.

I'm asking more about how everything could be explained. Is it simply another styles make fights triangle? Also how would you rank the 3 historically?

    Definitely a styles make fights.

And Pacquiao should be ranked the greatest of the 3 for overall career accomplishments imo, even if the scenario you present did come true.

If Pacquiao lost to Marquez clearly in a 4th fight it really would prove that Pacquiao's worst style matchup is a semi aggressive counter puncher with balls and a chin.

If Pacquiao beats Floyd it would prove that his style matches up with Floyd better than vice versa (which seems unlikely, but is possible, Floyd isn't great with southpaws). It would also prove that Floyd has too much bitch in him. I think if Floyd does lose to Pacquiao it would be by doing too little.

Marquez fans are the worst. Guy is underrated because he is light years better than Barrera and Morales. He should be more popular. He gets credit for stuff he has never done like actually beating Pacman. That is a fact, not an opinion. He has exactly zero wins over Pac. Not to the Marquez Maricones. He gets a gift draw=win. He loses 2 decisions =2 wins. He loses to Chris John=robbery. Marquez loses 36 minutes to Mayweather=the weight. He could get knocked cold and the Maricones would say he won.

Or how bout where Marquez gets more credit for being closely contested with Pacquiao w/o actually winning, but another fighter, Morales, doesn't get the same type of credit for ACTUALLY BEATING Pacquiao

Right. He is the thing. You can make 1 excuse, maybe 2, maybe 3. Marquez fans make excuses for all his shortcomings. Marquez was passed over for years and his fans wanted him to be called Elite. Who disputes that now? However, that isn't enough. Marquez isn't just elite, he is really essentially undefeated and a victim. Get real. I have little sympathy for counter punchers crying when they lose. There is one sure way to win--be aggressive and kayo your opponent. If you don't, then you let the judges decide and should live with it. Marquez barely beat Barrera(one of the most overrated fighters in history.)You never hear boo about that. That close fight was "right" so why bring it up.

Excellent point, it seems like Marquez really does get more credit for fighting on even terms with Pacquiao than Morales does for outright beating him in the first fight, 8 to 4.

Still doesnt change the fact that Floyd's better.

Marquez losing every second against Floyd was NOT purely based on size.

Floyd is a better/faster thinker than Marquez, more skilled, faster/more athletic, everything.

It certainly isnt a remark from any impartial judge of that fight. Yesterday wasnt the only time Marquez has been robbed.

Neil's hilarious, BTW. Marquez NEVER beats Mayweather. Under any conditions.
