I thought he won a very clear 115-113...
A case to be made for 116-112
If you had it a draw I could see, I dont agree but I see it...but I just don't see how Pacman got the nod, especially 116-112 on one card...
    Horrible.
But regardless, he looked good in there I hope he goes back down to 135 and dominates.

No joke. Big time props for JMM. I was planning on making one of these threads for him myself.

First of all because it takes big balls to get in the ring with Pacquiao having seen what he did to big, strong, tough guys like Margarito & Cotto. On top of that he once again did very well in the fight making it really close and not getting all beat up.

However the reason he'll always have trouble with the judges is because one of his keys to beating Manny is to let Manny come to him which the judges see as Manny being more aggressive. Also a lot of Manny's punches fall just short of hitting Marquez and I bet those are getting counted too.

    I agree with you completely.
But based on the points of how you are supposed to actually score the fight...Marquez had better ring generalship...landed the harder cleaner punches...and won most of the exchanges...

But hey oh well, this isn't even his weight class hell 135 isnt his weight class, I want to see him fight 2-3 times then retire.

JMM is a tremendous fighter. Tremendous. His counter-punching and combination-punching is ATG level. He is one of the most durable little bastards ever to lace 'em up. People have glosed over his work at 135 like it matters not. He basically chased Pac up to 147 and cleaned out 135 in the process. Wiped out an entire division not long ago considered fairly 'loaded'. Whilst in his mid-late 30's. Viva JMM

No I think he is the best ever. I think he would have beaten Chavez, and I think his resume is at least on par with Chavez's.

For some reason people are on Chavez's nuts in a pretty big way, but I find him incredibly overrated. I would favour Marquez to decision him.

I felt this way long before last night too.

At 130 definately would have been a great fight but I refrain from making a prediction...
    But resume...goes to Chavez.

Why? Because of the 90 taxi drivers?

I think Marquez's performances against Pacquiao, plus cleaning out 135 in his mid 30's, plus being a great featherweight, beats anything Chavez has done.

I might agree IF JMM officially got the W on his resume...
But Chavez might have fought some nobodies but, lets not degrade his accomplishments.

JMM is the best Mexican fighter I've ever seen. And more importantly he is one of the top 2 or 3 combination punching and offensive fighters ever.

I thought he lost a clear but close decision last night but he always shows the style to beat Manny. You have to be willing to throw your own combinations while standing firmly in the pocket.

So in my opinion, the closeness of this fight does nothing to impact how I think a Mayweather-Manny fight would go. Floyd's style is almost 100% different.

I think he's better than both of them.

In fact I'd pick Morales at his best to beat those two.

The current generation of Mexican fighters are underrated compared to the old guard.

Mexico has had a lot of great fighters, but I don't think a single one has been quite as good and well rounded as Marquez.

I remember back in the day when Hamed was still fighting I'd always hear about how good JMM was. Before I ever saw him fight though, all he was was the guy Hamed shamelessly ducked twice and had a real stinker with against Freddie Norwood.

When I finally got to see him fight I was beyond impressed. The guy was just a beautiful counter puncher and it was a joy to watch him take fighters apart. I only wished I could have seen more of his prime career back then.

    Olivares is my #1.

As a die hard fan of the Marquez bros though, I relish assessing them post-career. As far as Im concerned, Marquez flat beat Pacquiao and thats massive.

I have to admit that I am always guilty of not giving Sanchez as much credit as most. I always have to say "could have been" when talking about his greatness despite being amazed by his skill when I was a kid.

But then again, Danny Lopez was my favorite lighter weight guy growing up so that probably explains it.

This was like every other marquez loss. He doesn't land at 90% on his counters. Manny blocked dodged most of JMM's shots. 8-4 marquez is ridiculous. But its no matter, blind people who think marquez wins on backpedaling and disengaging every second while the landed punches counts are equal. This isn't surprising from people who thought Pac lost the first fight:lol:
