Drugs?/ Well-matched?/ Both?

So there's been some interesting observations re Manny over the last little while...

I've read that Manny must be on drugs as that is the best possible explanation for how he could be so effective against the likes of Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, DLH.

Just recently somebody noted that Cotto, Hatton, Margarito, DLH were "hand-picked" opponents. I guess the suggestion was that Manny was never THAT good (as the hype suggested), (just well-matched) & finally got "exposed" (by Marquez- somebody who could counterpunch & had a good RH)

Looking for suggestions as to how to reconcile these two points of view...?

    Drugs- AND well -matched?
    Other possibilities...?

Well, we can't be naive. If the Marquez camp hired that shady guy, it wasn't because he is your regular GNC supplement salesman. Drugs were involved, and it obviously helped.

It's a good question. Is Manny super human or carefully matched? Is Jmm superhuman too? Might this settle things?

Bad stylistic matchup and a new PED routine.

Marquez looked surprisingly solid at 142 on Saturday.

So that's 2X Manny AND Marquez were on drugs and that's why there recent fight was a similar result to their first 2. I guess that they were on very similar drugs & were enhanced to quite similar degrees as well as both equally suited to the weight.

If they were both not on drugs I guess the fight may have been similar then, just without such good physiques.

1X Drugs AND bad matchup. I guess Marquez would have beaten Manny quite decisively if Manny had not been on drugs. I guess that Marquez has adjusted to the weight better than Manny.

Marquez has said you can test him with piss or blood, whatever. At least he sounds like he has nothing to hide.

Can't say the same about Manny.

I don't know man, this Angel guy with 2 names with the history of steroids, with the much better physique and the thicker, more varnished hair?

I never accused Pacquiao of using anything although It seemed like his power had no effect on JMM at all. It's hard to explain because at this weight the power was supposed to be a bigger advantage for Pacquiao.

As far as JMM he just bulked up better than last time. But he didn't looke like a bodybuilder like some were exagerating. Messing with that guy with the shady steroid past is what makes people wonder.

i guess you reckon your guy donaire is using then.

all these track coaches/nutritional gurus like ariza, conte, heredia, hudson etc are the same. they all have access to the cutting edge shit that can get past the tests.

There's no question Pacquiao has been well-matched style wise between Marquez fights. It's just that he's been dominating bigger fighters. Was a pretty remarkable run.

Too bad he didn't say this when he was training, which is when you actually take the PEDs. They don't help in the ring

I thought Marquez looked kind of fleshy and softer in the waistline than he had previously been. He counterpunched the fuck out of Manny though.

Nah. He looked harder on the scales, never mind by the time he got to flexing and throwing shots in anger. Both men were of course rocking luxurious barnets.

  19. This is the definitive answer:

Manny Pacquiao is an all time great talent. Period. Whether drugs or matchmaking..doesn't change this fact.

Marquez also happens to be an ATG talent.

Cotto, Margarito, hatton were just decent fighters but we all knew they were not at that level anyway.

Mayweather is ATG talent also...but on a different level...Robinson/Jones level.

I don't know how you can say he's been well-matched when he's faced just about everyone without prejudice. Could it simply be that JMM is a great fighter?

News for everyone: the fact JMM's performance exceeded expectations doesn't mean Pacquiao no longer gets credit for past dominant performances.

I know a lot of people are confused here - many of you have just two buckets in which to put fighters: unbeatable and crap. And I know it's killing many of you as long as Pacquiao remains in neither. And so you're deciding frantically which one he belongs in. He, along with just about every other top fighter in history, belongs in neither !!!

I was with you until you suggested that RJJ and PBF were somehow on a different level than JMM and Pacquiao. They're not.

It doesn't matter if you are an "ATG talent" if you are a PED using cheating piece of shit. Because, while you may still be an "ATG talent", you should be precluded from being considered an "ATG".

The bottom line is that Manny and JMM could fight 100 times and it's going to be close every time. That's all there is to it, sometimes guys have styles that will always trouble eachother and that is the case here. Drugs, no drugs, whatever, neither of these two will ever beat the other easily.

Instead of posting things that make sense, people on here seem more concerned with posting things that they know will piss off other posters.

  28. :giggle:

Sometimes what pisses people off, actually makes sense. It's just that the pissed-off people refuse to see the sense in it.

    Case in point:

Floyd is one of the top 5 best fighters of all time. Floyd haters would get pissed off at this assertion....but they are the fools that can't see EXTREME TALENT when it presents itself to them in their time.

Floyd's talent in boxing is akin to Michael Jordan's talent in Basketball...ridiculous ridiculous ability. He's not 43-0, 6 world titles by accident. Watching him boxing is like seeing poetry in motion.
