Ortiz is the Mexican Zab Judah. He's a talented headcase, but he's a coward and has all kinds of mental barriers he can't seem to surmount in the ring...That being said aside from Mayweather he's knocked down everyone he's been in the ring with and is a beast in there.

    Wrong.

And even though Ortiz is pretty good offensively, he's actually not a beast at all.

    No finishing ability.

Maidana, Peterdude, and Berto ALL should have been stoppage wins, all 3 were stoppable.

Yet it turned into 1 loss, 1 draw and 1 decision win.

Would people STOP saying Ortiz has knocked down all his opponents? He never put down Nate Campbell, or even seriously hurt him.

Sly is not to be taken seriously in this thread.

I thought Nate Campbell took an 8 count in that fight even though the punch wasn't flush.

fine...my point is he reminds me of a Mexican Zab Judah. Full of promise yet borderline retarded and cowardly.

I don't disagree with that, he has some talent and ability, I used to like him actually.

Not as much talent as Judah but there are similarities, and yeah, he is a nutcase and a quitter.

He quit against Floyd too, he could have got up from that suckerpunch no problem. I think the whole headbutting and kissing routine was all part of hmi quitting.

yeah I was shocked how many people fell for his scam...Those were sharp shots he took but they weren't "where is my mouthpiece?, where am I?" shots. He choose not to get up because he knew what the next rounds were going to look like.

I too think that Ortiz was trying to get disqualified (quit). He was trying to head-butt PBF from the get-go. You might give Ortiz the benefit of the doubt that he was simply trying to get under PBF's skin by head-butting him (standing up to the bully). But if that were the case, he'd have gotten up from PBF's sucker-punch, knowing at that point he had PBF right where he wanted him. Instead he quit like a bitch, probably hoping in the back of his mind he'd get a rematch (one that PBF was evidently willing to give him).

Of course, the problem Ortiz faces, in securing a rematch, is that there's no clamor for PBF to fight anyone in particular other than Pacquiao. So the feeling is, he may as well face someone he's never faced before (as opposed to a rematch with Ortiz). And so there was no cry whatsoever from fans for a PBF/Ortiz rematch.

And did you see how happy he was after it was stopped?

I know. It actually infuriated me to see a supposed professional who fights with the hopes of winning, be so satisfied with what was such a pathetic display on his part. I think he was embarrassed most of all, when he should've been mortified.

Honestly, this is the same guy who thinks Mayweather beats Jake LaMotta

Ray Robinson had to go life and death 5 times out of 6, but Mayweather gets it done with ease

    fucking nonsense

No he hasn't. That became part of the media tour hype on which several writers called bullshit, but was still passed along by Golden Boy and repeated by various TV outlets (sadly, including HBO).

Anyway, likening him to Zab Judah is probably the best way to describe him. All of the talent in the world, but just not psychologically built for the top level.

Much like Zab's rematch win over Spinks served as the exception rather than proof, so too was Ortiz' win over Berto.

Perhaps more germane to the topic, I'd pick Marquez from Saturday to beat the Marquez from the Floyd fight, for whatever that's worth. But I'd pick the Shane from the Floyd fight to beat (possibly stop) the Shane that fought Manny.
