    lol

it took me a while but I now understand that the reasoning behind these opinions is that everyone knows Floyd beats Pac if they fight; thus if Pac > Duran, Floyd >>> Duran.

    WTF?

You sir, need to watch ALOT more prime Duran fights.

Duran's one of the best counterpunchers in history.

And his DEFENSE was ALOT better than Marquez's.

Duran would have whupped Manny's ass all over the ring.

Duran was a level above Manny and Marquez.

    Agreed.

I could see Duran fighting him the way he fought De Jesus in that 3rd match. Using the jab, and setting traps for Pacquiao to land counters.

    I don't see Manny beating a pre-Leonard 2 Duran at all.

Don't even bother. Ugotabe isn't very bright to begin with, but he's completely retarded on the subject of Duran.

Ridiculous hyperbole with the closing statement, which is par for the course with any Duran support.

Duran failed to whup FAR inferior and similarly-gifted boxers to Pacquiao plenty of times, including at his precious 135lbs.

Who? DeJesus? Who has Pacquiao fought above 130 that remotely compares to Esteban DeJesus?

And especially who did he fail to "whup" that came straight at him, and couldn't deal with a right hand? Neither of those apply to DeJesus.

You think he whupped everyone all over the ring between his debut and Leonard?

The hyperbole around Duran has always reeked of sentimentality.

The only guys to take a competitive portion of rounds off him were De Jesus & Viruit. Two of them being 10 round non-title fights, which were taken much more lightly back in those days. So yeah actually, pretty much.

Buchanan, De Jesus (in the title fights) and Palomino all lost in a fairly one sided fashion.

Pacquiaos bashed nearly everyone hes fought too.

Duran doesnt, "whup Pacquiao all over the ring," in a hundred tries.

He had enough trouble making weight as it was, but for the record, Ray Arcel disagrees with you. I know, I know, Ray doesnt know what hes talking about.

I dont know why youd stop there. Duran just obliterates any 135-147lber between Day Dot and now. If its, "Montreal Duran," of course.

Nat Fleischer didnt train the guys he was comparing. He didnt watch their development and shape them as Arcel did.

Leonard is more than a match for the huge majority of LWs who ever lived. He was twice the fighter DeJesus was.

    agreed on defense

disagreed strongly on counterpunching. Marquez is a way better counterpuncher imo.

Id pick Pac, he's more active, and his straighter puches will be the difference. duran would maul him for portions of the fight, but I think pac has good enough chin and stamina to hold on to win a decision

I'd put Leonard in there with Juan Diaz before even considering great lightweights.

    indeed

Benny Leonard is one of the most important fighters EVER,,, he was really the first truly slick fighter, the first fighter who could really move while punching... he was exceptionally advanced for HIS TIME... but you watch a film of Ike Williams just 20 years later and tell me Benny Leonard survives even 4 rounds with him and I'll eat my hat

Even an ordinary guy like Diaz with subpar power and talent is a more advanced technician than any guy Benny Leonard ever boxed in his life

Duran was a smarter boxer than Pac. Watch his 3rd fight with De Jesus. Duran boxed from angles, worked behind the jab, and landed the counter right hands again and again on a guy whom was a very good technician in his own right, with better defense than Pacquiao.

Duran's accurate right hand countering would definitely reduce Pac's output and make him reluctant. Also Duran's physical strength inside would make Pac quite uncomfortable.

Ray was an ATG but how many fighters did he go up against with such mastery in the art of pivoting?

Nonsense. Duran was better than Marquez, but not Manny.

Overall Manny and Duran were of similar talent. Any advantages that Duran had (slight edge in defense) are offset by Manny's advantages in speed of hand and foot and southpawedness (copywright D&D, 2011).

    word.

Pac has a great chin and absolutely LUDICROUS stamina. Nightmare for Duran when you also factor in his mutant-like speed.

Duran would draw Manny in, make him lead, roll and counter with the right all night. Manny's feet speed would be neutralized by timing and patience just as it is by Marquez.
