:: It looks like this fight probably is going to happen, Team Pacquiao are obviously a bit salty after what they obviously intended to be the fight where they beat Marquez convincingly once and for all. If this fight does happen, my prediction is either one by decision. It's pretty clear now they could fight 10 times and each one would be a disputed decision. The only fight that was clear enough is the first one, and I think that's mainly that Manny was younger and more reckless, prepared to take risks he is no longer willing to take. The truth is it's not a particularly compelling fight, as you absolutely know what to expect, and the 3rd fight was actually a pretty tepid affair.
its clearly a more competitive and exciting affair than the alternative. I pick marquez to win for the third time.
It wont happen because it wont sell, you just touched on that yourself. This fight was the least entertaining (though intriguing) and its not a fight which can change. We know exactly wed see the same again, so interest would be down 90% on Sunday's fight. If I were Marquez I wouldnt bother putting myself through another gruelling camp knowing Arum wont allow him to win the fight. Thats clear to me after Sunday, and it has to weigh heavy with Marquez.
Yeah, Ramonza - that crossed my mind because the 3rd fight was boring and well, it's going to be the FOURTH time they've fought, but actually it'll sell. It's Pacquiao, it's Marquez, it's Pacquiao Vs a Mexican, it's a more competitive fight than people thought the 3rd one would be etc etc. I think they both make a lot for the 4th fight.
I don't care to see those two in the ring facing each other ever again....at LEAST not immediately... Both should have interim fights....against Bradley and Khan...maybe an easier fight for Marquez at 140 vs. Brandon Rios...
That sounds FANTASTIC. Perhaps the Pacquaio-Mayweather fight could be made May 2013... Interim, Marquez then defrost Mayweather.
Jabs definitely trouble Marquez, they are a pretty good antidote to a pure counterpunching style like Marquez. The thing is, Pacquiao's jab is crap. I'd never really thought about it before, but that must be a factor in why he has so much trouble with Marquez. On Saturday he threw 304 jabs and only connected at 19%. He threw 274 power shots and connected at 43%. His jab is probably his worst punch.
A southpaw jab is a great weapon...he would have actually gotten Shane out of there too if he opened him up with the jab. I never understood why they don't work on that punch and how he thinks he'll be able to beat Floyd without one.
Marquez would get the nod as all close rounds will br scored for him based on the percieved unfairness of the last verdict.
"Pacquaio didn't fight anything like himself." Jeff Mayweather OH OH! They're on to it... I thought he fought like the previous version of Manny, like before all his improvements.
So you think that Manny would? (based on a potential PBF fight maybe)? Definately possible I guess. To be honest, I thought that Marquez would get the close rounds based on underdog status the other night, so I can certainly accept the possibility of being mistaken.
I think it's important to point out that most of Pacquiao's stylistic improvements took place before the second Marquez fight.,
Watch round 9. Not in isolation, but sandwiched between 8 and 10. You'll see Pacquiao turn JMM, make him miss, and throw short punches underneath, and loop his left hand. The rest of the fight he threw that long over-hand left that barely landed once.
Same We've seen this fight 3 times already. Why would a 4th be any different? To top it off the 3rd was by far the least entertaining of the 3.
