Overrated and underrated don't mean the same as worse and better. Leonard might be better than Pac and still be overrated

Can we say the same thing about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao if that fight ever happen...? Or will the deciding factor in that fight be Mayweather awesomeness of skillfulness...so superior to overhype/rated Leonard? :bomb:

  3. your grammar is so terrible I do find it a burden to read your posts. Still English is not your first language and so I'll try to give it a pass...

    Styles.

Leonard would beat mayweather head to head at 147lbs, IMO, but would have had a harder time with Pacquiao than mayweather would.

Styles...you know. Leonard-Hearns-Duran-Leonard and all that. You know how it is old boy.

which pacquiao foes were better than kalule?

Kalule is another guy that would have beaten Manny as well.

  6.

I guess we've all been fooled by Manny.

Please tell me which Pac opponents were better than Ayub Kalule, especially at the time he fought them and with the stipulations he put on them. Note that Ayub Kalule was an undefeated 154 lb champ when Leonard faced him.

Yeah styles make fights....Pacquiao size disadvantage + his average defense EQUAL ko in 6 rounds or less....Leonard has all the advantages here except for aggressiveness.....

Speed, power, strength, footwork, chin, etc...all favor Leonard

If this is Slystaff: Kalule is the type of fighter that I thought that you admired.

No doubt in my mind that he beats Manny, and Maurice Hope would have as well.

    Problem is...

Those are three Hall of Fame fighters Leonard beat when all involved were in their prime.

I hate Leonard more than the average guy...he's not overrated.

agree, I detest Leonard, hate his guts

but he's every bit as great as "they" say he is

  13. He's overrated.

Bottomline is he lost his "0" to a lightweight, a lightweight that was arguably ever so slightly past prime. He didn't have this killer punch that people try to pretend he had nowadays. And anyone that says that he'd have beaten Pac easily are overrating him. he had good wins over Duran, hearms, Benitez..no doubt. He's one of the greats by virtue of these wins alone...then add the hagler win as Icing on the cake. GREAT GREAT fighter. But he was more beatable than people now try to suggest.

    Both Klitschko brothers for starters.

  16. No one.

But he doesn't destroy/outclass/dominate guys like Pacquiao and Mayweather. He'd struggle with both.

  17. ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

He WILL destroy PACQUIAO....and outclass Mayweather over 12-15 if Mayweather plays defense all fight long and just decides to go to distance.

He'd struggle to catch Floyd. May would be running his ass off against Ray.

And Ray would struggle to apologize to the Pinoy people for half killing their hero.

Nobody. He would take care of Mayweather and Pac with room to spare.

A handicap match would be their only shot.

  23. Ridiculous.

A Prime Leonard lost to Duran who was a former lightweight. If you can lose to a former lightweight who is short with short arms...even if his name is Duran, you are not beating either Mayweather or Pacquiao "with room to spare". No sir. Utter absolute nonsense.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are every bit as talented as Duran and Hearns...overall.

Hearns vs Mayweather for example. Stylewise Hearns has the edge head to head....but let's consider their relative talents:

Hearns was taller, more powerful, more reach and faster of hand.
Floyd had better stamina, more elusive, better counterpuncher, better chin, more intelligent.

Relatively they are equal in ability and talent. Leonard didn't beat anyone on Mayweather's level "with room to spare".

I'd pick Ray to beat Floyd at 147lbs by decision, but it would be a close decision. Floyd is a much better fighter than his father was..or perhaps you haven't noticed that, you cunt.

A 130lb Floyd is comparable to Thomas Hearns. At 147 the comparison is a fucking joke.

Leonard would beat Floyd.....with room to spare

Leonard-Floyd would look alot like Leonard-Benitez.

And contrary to popular opinion, that fight wasn't close. Benitez's defensive skill and counterpunching were thrown off by Ray's handspeed. Floyd would have a similar problem.

Actually Floyd would have an even bigger problem, considering he's about 2-3 inches shorter than Benitez was.

Thats what Sly's not considering here. How FAST Leonard was. Floyd has never seen anywhere NEAR that type of speed before. Well, unless you count the mental midget Judah. And Zab's speed troubled Floyd early.

Whereas Floyd isnt that much quicker than Benitez. And Benitez at 147 was better than Floyd anyway.

Sly has no perspective on fighters and history etc. He can only see Floyd.

He goes on and on about size difference between Leonard, Hearns and Floyd blah blah blah as teh advantages they'd have over Floyd. Completely forgetting those guys weighed in the day of the fight.

The bottom line and ultimate truth is, anything Floyd can do Leonard could do better and with venom.

  27. If Leonard would have beaten Floyd with room to spare, suggesting domination, then he's better than Ray Robinson. Simple as that. He would have never lost to Duran for example. Floyd's style and ability doesn't allow ANYONE close to his size to beat him easily. NO ONE.

  28. It's remarkable that y'all STILL don't realize how good Floyd is. You let the fact that he's a disagreeable personality, and has the odd boring fight cloud your judgement. Much like people didn't appreciate Larry Holmes until he got old.

Floyd is EXCEPTIONAL. I knew this from BEFORE he beat Corrales. He's an unbelievable talent. he's also much stronger and tougher than most seem to realize.

Boring or arrogant doesn't mean BAD.

Benitez was not better than Floyd, even at 147lbs. No sir.

Floyd may be 5'8" but he fights TALL. De La Hoya had 3 inches on him...but it didn't look like that in the ring (and Oscar is an inch taller than Leonard). Floyd is shorter than Mosley...did it look like that in the ring?

Dude..just consider what Floyd brings to the table in terms of fighting ability, ignore his shrewd matchmaking, annoying personality and the fact that he's a contemporary fighter. You're better than this. Leave that nonsense to fuckups like Broadwayjoe.

  29. Again....you are known to be clouded by your like or dislike of certain fighters.

If Leonard could have done everything Floyd could do and then some he would have never struggled with Duran or Hearns and would have beaten 35 year old Hagler fairly easily.

Put it this way...give Floyd Leonard's natural size, Leonard's handspeed and flurrying ability and Leonard's power (since y'all assume Leonard punches so much harder than him). Does Floyd struggle with Hearns? Does Floyd lose to Duran?

Leonard was NOT better at everything than Floyd. Floyd is far more elusive. Smarter and more adaptable, better counterpuncher. Floyd can do things Leonard wouldn't dream of doing. leonard's only advantages over Floyd are the THREE that I just mentioned.

Let's stop right here...I've hated Leonard since I was 10 years old.

By using your own logic that would mean I'd pick Floyd to beat Leonard as you foolishly do.

Seeing I've stated for many years my long standing disdain for Leonard, it renders your point null and void.

The fact I'd pick Leonard to whup Floyd's ass in light of my hate of Leonard validates my point.

It's uncanny how Sly can spout off his prediction of Tyson losing to Holyfield pre-internet 'without using hindsight", plus fight predictions from random posters dating back to 2001 and yet he misses a fundamental fact of my hatred of Leonard which has been conveyed multiple times each year.

No worries...I understand how you operate...if it doesn't fit within the perimeter of whatever argument you're supporting at the moment it didn't happen or you fail to acknowledge.

    We understand you Sly.
