Overeem couldn't even out box Werdum easily. JDS gives him a boxing lesson.

Overeem won easilly against werdum, he floored him a million times.

You guys are funny, no way does Dos Santos with his average boxing would beat a K1 champion standing up. Koing Cain Velasquez in a boxing match is not the same thing as taking out Peter Aerts or Badr Hari

JDS would win. He's a better, more well rounded fighter.

I also think he has better boxing than Overeem. Not better kicks/knees/elbows, but better boxing.

JDS wins this not because of standup. He wins because he has more weapons. My guess is JDS goes in here and establishes a jab, Overeem doesn't know what a jab is. Overeem will try some leg kicks, JDS will take it to the ground and get the sub.

JDS is not taking ANYONE down. He's too much man for that. He will stand and bang with anyone. They meet in the middle of the ring and have some exchanges and Overeem lands a couple shots but JDS' chin is pure STEEL oops can't be said the same for Overeem therefore the first hard punch JDS lands Overeem is in trouble and a follow up barrage knocks him out cold. JDS KO1 withou any doubt in my mind.

In a sense I agree with you about JDS chin, but I disagree with you about the "too much man". JDS is a BJJ practitioner, his idle is big Nog, I guarantee you this, he sees nothing "unmanly" about taking Overeem down and subbing him out.

JDS has the Nick Diaz syndrome going on of standing and banging with everyone because he so strongly believes in his stand up even though take downs would make it a lot easier. I guarantee you that he would stand and bang with Overeem and not once try to take it down. Unless he gets hurt or something then we don't know how he would react because we've never seen it .

JDS is a brown belt in BJJ. He has taken people down before

I think it's crazy to think JDS would develop a strategy against Overeem or ANYONE that involves take downs and using his BJJ.

His hands and chin are good enough to beat anyone in the division without exception. Overeem will be marginally dangerous for a little while fresh.

But lets be honest, Overeem has fallen short against almost every good fighter he's faced. And JDS might be the very best he's faced.

Yeah i dont see JDS talking down Overeem AT ALL. IMO overeem's chin is soft. JDS has the better hands and can stuff any lame attempt at a takendown that overeem would attempt. I see this as a quick night for JDS.

i've liked overeem since his move up in weight and rejuvenation (whether or not it was attributed by roids), but let's face it, those guys he beat in k-1 were either stiffs or from the 90s. plus, he got blasted out by badr hari in a round in their rematch. that's not to say that his striking isn't world class, but it hasn't been displayed against top level opposition.

if jds fought peter aerts without using any wrestling or bjj, i'd still pick him to beat the old dutch down.

Bingo.. Even Kharitonov, who isn't close to being as technical or as powerful as JDS, ended Overeem's night in one round at HW.

Why should fans think JDS can't easily duplicate that?

I think they could literally have a fans poll to "Pick How JDS Beats Overeem" and whatever has the most votes is the ONLY way JDS is allowed to win, and he would still win.

2.7 million votes for flying, inverted gogoplata and JDS still wins.

3.2 million votes for reverse, spinning scissor kick and JDS still wins.

4.7 million votes for Tap out due to tickling and JDS still wins.

Yep... And that's the thing with MMA. Small gloves equals a punchers chance for ANYONE.

That part is completely false, in k1, Overeem has fought Hari, Spong, Saki and Bojansky (not to mention Aerts) who all are top level fighters in K1. Make me wonder if you actually know what you're talking about.
And JDS has shown great standup against whom? The ghosts of Crocop and Yvel

I could care less about the K-1 opponents.

BUT Nelson, Carwin, Struve and Gonzaga are better strikers than anyone Overeem has faced in an MMA match over the last 3 years. Cro Cop might be the exception but that version of Mirko sucked.

I think Rogers ko all of them.

Hunt is a way better striker than all of them also (tough Overeem subbed him)

Hunt I won't argue about because the cat can bang. But Overeem didn't bang with him so it's meaningless.

We will just have to disagree on Rogers.

Admittedly I once thought Rogers was decent, but he's actually a scrub.

He'd get beaten up by both those fighters, even standing I think they'd beat him. All Rogers has really done is KO chinless Arlovski.

I've always liked Overeem actually, but the truth is the only good fighter he's fought recently is Werdum, and he didn't exactly look brilliant in that fight.

JDS couldn't knockout Nelson despite hitting him with the kitchen sink yet Brett Rogers would?

Anything's possible with MMA gloves but that wouldn't be the most likely outcome.

And I guess you think Rogers goes 3 rounds with Carwin and never gets popped? Brett wouldn't last 2 minutes against Carwin's power. Get real.

I dont think Rogers would last with Carwin either, but I think Rogers hits pretty hard. At least that's what his wife told me

Arlovsky battered Nelson all over the place and koed him (was a bit early if I recall). Nelson is not really a good striker (he had trouble outboxing small ass Jeff Monson), and while he has a decent beard , he can be hurt. I think that Rogers would simply be too agressive and he will ko him eventually.

Carwin :notallthere:. Carwin a joke who has a bit of power, average wrestling and nothing else. Funny how you blast Rogers while praising Carwin, even tough theyr fighter of similar levels. No surpise here since you're a UFC tool, who feel the need to praise there champion. Now JDS is this incredible, almost invincible, fighting machine, while not long ago it was Cain and a little before that it was Lesnar.
