Of course it works, it's the perfect system - you heard the man, you can even use it for betting etc.

Hahaha I would actually like to see his breakdown, Im curious

  3. word.

btw...I hope you know that was tongue in cheek.

  4. I'll set it up.

However...remember I did say that it doesn't factor in INTANGIBLES. Tyson wasn't prepare dthat night a fully prepared Tyson knocks Douglas the fuck out.

    Floyd, yo. :kidcool: (for Cdogg)

So you're saying fighters stop training properly sometimes and that makes a difference? Sounds like a load of apologist shit to me. Tyson just sucked.

  6. :pissed:

    Tyson didn't "suck".

Man, we have to meet and have a duel with swords over this shit.

I'd say Manny's uniquely unpredictable once he's in the flow of throwing combos, but he's more predictable than Curry in setting up his attacks. I think it evens out. He's pretty one handed, even still, and Marquez has shown that if you can take the left away from him and know how to manage range against him as he comes in you can neautralize his volume pretty effectively and without that he isn't that creative with his attacks.

Excuses are irrelevant. 'Intangibles' are irrelevant. Context is irrelevant. Desire is irrelevant. We are Borg, identification Third of Five.:fightme:

C'mon, man. You know context only matters when it works in someone's favor.

Prime Douglas lost to Tyson, but he was under-prepared and took Douglas lightly so the loss doesn't count. It's like a bad at-bat in a baseball double-header. Context good!

Past Prime Duran (and before some dumbbell tries to put words in my mouth - that doesn't mean washed up or shot or any other variation on that) does the same against Laing and it's a loss that can never, ever be excused. Context Bad!

See how easy it is when you pick and choose when it's ok to bother with context??

  11. Of course Duran only ever lost because of these intangibles. Well Floyd only ever struggled or didn't get the fights he wanted because of intangibles. How 'bout dem apples?

    Stalemate.

Nah Duran lost to Hearns and Hagler because they were much better junior middleweights and middleweights than him.

  15. cool. :TLC:

The period after no mass when he fought Laing & Benitez was definitely a wayward period for him though. His self belief & intensity were definitely effected, you can see it in all his fights in that oeriod, including those he won.

FWIW though, i think Benitez is a better junior middleweight than Duran too and would have squeezed him out at that weight anyway.

Besides power and height, the clearest other category is heart where Hearns wins easily.

'Ability in adversity/under pressure' is a useful variable in judging the quality of fighters, 'heart' meaning bravery isn't. What fights did Hearns' bravery turn around for him and help him win? (none)

    1. Hearns never quit.

    2. I don't think Duran's bravery ever turned a fight around and helped him win, either? I guess I don't consider Leonard 1 or the get off the canvas wins to be 'brave' performances. When Duran had tough fights he was losing, he quit. When he suffered flash knockdowns, he fought on. That's not really bravery. I'm guessing Hearns got up from flash knockdowns and won fights, but I can't think of any offhand.

Duran had tough losing fights against Benitez and the first DeJesus fight and he did not quit at all

    his reputation is outrageous

Duran quit once in over 100 fights.

Mike is a total clown. I can't help but think Duran cockchoked his wife or something.

Mike thinks Duran losing to Joppy is significant.

  23. Indeed. You'd swear that he was invincible if you hear the chatter.

Duran quit three times; once in the most important fight of his life to that point.

Don't want me to count Joppy then show me where Duran gave back his paycheck for that fight.

Duran quit once and was 50 years old when he fought Joppy

    Did Duran cockchoke your wife?

You shouldn't mention the Joppy fight because it makes you sound fucking stupid. Wait....more stupid than normal.

he was 50 and had been fighting for 33 years... why are you so fucking stupid?

  29. Fuck Duran!

Dude is worshipped as a god around here. Great fighter but he had flaws. Mike is going to the other extreme of course....but you and others are just as extreme but in the other direction, the real truth lies in the middle.

Great Fighter, very beatable. Beat Leonard but lost to every other great fighter he faced (Hearns, Benitez, Hagler as well as Leonard himself twice). next greatest fighter on his resume, DeJesus, had beaten him also.

it is what it is. Stop trying to make this guy invincible.

no one is invincible...but if you're looking for a guy to attribute prime invincibility to I'll give you 4 choices:

    Robinson
    Ali
    Jones
    Mayweather

Hell...if anyone should be criticized for that fight it should be Joppy for taking it.
