Pacquiao 7-5 Close but clear. Marquez did well. Alot better than I thought he would. But Pac outworked him and came on strong down the stretch to earn it.
That amazes me. Like I said, it's a fight that could have gone either way, but one thing that is undeniable is Pacquiao landed more punches and Pacquiao was the aggressor, it seems insane that press row would be that much in favour of Marquez. I would have thought it would be 50/50 ish. I think Marquez doing (much) better than expected must have had an influence.
2 years ago Manny would have pretty much destroyed Floyd, but now he's more or less shot so I hope he retires.
Same here, and before the scores were announced, I did kind of feel like it was Pacquiao who deserved the decision. What do you make of the ridiculously low press % in favour of Pacquiao?
You can deny it all you want, but you know it's true, Flomo :kidcool: Floyd ducked him for a reason, num sen?
OK then, completely shot I guess. I was thinking it could just be a bad couple of fights, but you're probably right.
Yep, a lot of fighters go from peak to shot from 30->32, especially when they take relatively good care of themselves. Actually, Manny was shot several years ago, when he fought JMM and looked as lost as he did in this fight. It makes his accomplishment of moving up from flyweight to defeat dangerous welterweights like Clottey all the more impressive.
Before the fight Lampley said there was a poll up on the HBO facebook page and the voting ran throughout the HBO broadcast. At the end of the broadcast Lampley announced the results of the poll...the numbers Neil gave were the results. Pac didn't fare well in the media poll nor the overall Facebook poll.
Pac got a young man style, it's not out of the realm of possibillity that he slowed down considerably since he's 32. Anyway, the fight wasn't a robbery, if you put a gun to my head, I'd probably go with JMM but he was very negative and cautious and I can see why the judges sided with Pac
Watching the Fight in a Sports Bar FULL of Marquez Fans, REED Felt like Pac EEKED Out a Razor Thin Decision...REED Wouldn't have Objected to a Draw Either...But Since this was Easily THE LEAST Fan-Friendly of the 3 Pac-Marquez Bouts, REED has ZERO Interest in Watching it Again & Actually SCORING it... REED:scared:
true, the pacquiao from 2 years ago would have surely whipped mayweather jr. not the version who fought marquez in the rematch before he learned how to throw hooks, or the completely shot version from last weeks fight. he outboxed the guy and landed the cleaner shots. lets not pretend he fought like derrick gainer
this got nothing to do with Maywheater, who I'd have favor over Pac at any point. It's just basic common sense, speedy whirlwind type of fighter rarely age well. As for Pac-JMM III, I agree with what you said, but he fought on the back foot all night long and barely ever took the initiative. Pac was far more active and agressive and that as to count for something too
Precisely. I can't believe Floyd fans are actually trying to argue with this. Like I said before, if anything it's surprising it's taken intil age 32 for there to be a noticeable decrease in speed, it's not uncommon for such high energy styles to burn out in their late 20's, especially if they've had a career as long as Pacquiao's.
Watching the fight now...after 10 rounds....this fight is as close as any of the other two....NOBODY was robbed... Marquez landed a WHOLE lot more cleaner punches in this one...than the other 2.... Pacquiao look a bit like the fighter who fought Morales the first time...jab.left hand...repeat...repeat...and the side stepping shit he is doing work against bigger slower guys...not against Marquez..and it won't work against Mayweather, he will probably walk into left hooks all night..if he does it.
I scored it 114-114 when I first saw it, drunk. I watched it again, sober, and still had it 114-114. Pain in the ass to score.
I had a draw too. There was one round that I'm still not sure about it. I gave it to Pac by a fraction of an atom. I would score it even, but I don't want to do that.
There were a few rounds that I wasn't so sure about. A lot of close rounds. Same as the first fight (mostly the late rounds in that fight). I thought the 2nd fight had the least amount of close rounds, although I recall that even that fight had one or two that could've gone either way. After 3 fights, I have them dead even in terms of wins and also overall scores. 113-112 Pac 114-113 JMM 114-114
I want to watch the 2nd again. There's no doubt Marquez lost the first fight after that horrible 1st round, but I don't even remember who I had winning the 2nd. All I remember was me being a little drunk and rooting for Marquez.
Basically in 3 fights it's inconclusive who's better. I scored the first fight for Pacquiao by a point, but I had Marquez winning 7 rounds to 5. Second fight, I thought Marquez edged it by a point (again 7 rounds to 5). 3rd fight I had a draw.
That's about How REED Sees it...Of the 3 Bouts, Pac-Marquez II was THE Most Conclusive in REED's Opinion, & He Had Marquez Winning It... REED:mj:
