From boxingscene website Nigel Benn fears Chris Eubank Jr. will struggle to live up to the pressure associated with his famous name. Eubank Jr. stopped Lithuanian Kirilas Psonko inside four rounds on his professional debut in Manchester. But Benn, who fought two epic battles with Eubank Sr in the early 1990s, said the expectations on the young boxer would be difficult to shoulder. Eubank Jr, 21, is starting out as a middleweight, the division in which his father was the WBO title-holder and never defeated. "It's very worrying because he has a lot to live up to," former two-weight world champion Benn told BBCSport.*"Chris [Sr] was a great fighter, so he's [Jr] going to have so much pressure on him. If he jumps into the ring like his dad and has the same music, then he better perform like his dad. It's going to be a challenge for him, but praise God, I hope he does well," said Benn, who revealed earlier this year that his 15-year-old son also aspires to be a boxer. Just look at the physique on him, he looked amazing - like father like son. I'll certainly be supporting him."
Poor Nigel. You heard him actually speak lately? The bloke is well on the way to joining McClellan on the scrap-heap. He's miles past punchy now... MTF
I haven't heard him for a while, not since that sky sports programme was on a few weeks back (but not sure when that was recorded) I'll try youtube and see if I can get a clip up
I was just about to ask the question........how long do people think it took Nigel to SAY all of what is written in the opening post. About an hour I reckon. And another hour to get it clarified and down on paper. PS....can you imagine if some day McCellan actually sat up in his chair someday and, Frazier-esque, heard Benn talking, pointed a finger in his general direction on the tele and said "Look what I did to that motherfucker...I did that, I did" :laugh11:
A distant family relative of mine once had a stroke which rendered him speechless, whereupon my Uncle said "makes no difference, nothing worthwhile ever came out of his mouth" I feel the same about most of what Nigel said, apart from THIS:- <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pDK1GwtxiYQ?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pDK1GwtxiYQ?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> Newbon was a complete moron. He kept interrupting. Nigel was right to cut him off.
Speaking of marble-mouths.....<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OW3zWZ12ZZY?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OW3zWZ12ZZY?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Nigel Benn was an ignorant ham. He never had any sense between his ears. "They just brought 'im 'ere to bash me up!" Clown!!
As I was saying, Nigel told the truth in that interview. He was correct in brutally honest fashion. McClellan had been brought to England to smash Benn, and no sooner had Benn flipped the script, here was Newbon with his stupid microphone telling BENN what to say. Fuck that. That was Benn's moment, you have to let him speak.
Benn was a dummy, Bruno less so. Bruno wasn't always scowling and sneering like Nige was. Is it OK to call him Nige? You never know these days.
