I hear you. I just always felt that Cotto was overrated and I want Margarito to knock him out WITHOUT the handwraps just to prove that Cotto is just a fragile dude.

The point Cotto made about the red being on the handwraps is this...

When comparing the post fight pic for their fight (Cotto vs Margarito) with the confiscated handwraps prior to the Mosley fight, Cotto's saying Margarito tried to use the same handwrap/gauze against Mosley that he wore to fight him (Cotto).

That's why Cotto made the point (and I agree with him) that there's no way the confiscated handwraps should have red on them considering Margarito was being wrapped and the hand never came in contact with a glove. It was pre-fight when the wraps were taken in the Mosley fight.

That's why Cotto is positive Margarito used illegal wraps against him.

the fact it's in the same spot (Mosley wraps picture) and the post-fight picture (Cotto) is all I need to see.

The BS excuse that Ceptillo got there late and used what was there is ridiculous.

I misunderstood your post the first time...

They're not saying the red is blood. They're saying the red is dye from gloves. When gloves get wet over the course of a fight the color bleeds and stains the handwraps.

Seeing that they're red (presumably the dye from gloves) on wraps that hadn't been placed in a glove yet....the idea is that they're the same wraps from the Cotto fight due to the red is in the same spot in both pictures.

Meaning...if the wraps tested positive for plaster of paris before the Mosley fight they were tainted in the Cotto fight.

Again...

From the outside looking in it's difficult to argue with that line of thinking.

 

why would they use the SAME exact piece of plaster from the cotto fight, is it that hard to make/get a new piece?? :dunno:

 

Agreed, I think anyone rooting for Plasterito at this point is a fucking piece of shit to be honest.

The fact Margarito is in a second high profile fight clearly shows how great of a promoter Bob Arum is. There's no way he should be allowed to fight let alone get a second consecutive PPV and multi-million dollar payday.

Always love watching these clips, thanks for posting. Observations - 1) Cotto's right back over the front foot without Steward shouting at him about it. He's basically one handed. 2) Cotto just quarter turned left about 25 times in a row without going right, and spent 95% of his time both on the pads and the bag moving left, too. Another thing I bet Steward was setting about correcting, but will now be scratched. Tony doesn't have much of a right hand so he won't pay for that TOO much, but it's still an embarrassingly big technical failing for a fighter at this level to have. Against Pac he kept turning southpaw just so he could move right (seriously)!
