boring ass fight. mayweather jr simply is not a very good welterweight. against strong, full fledged welters he wont engage.

Why do Floyd "nuthuggers" get more criticism than Robinson, Leonard or Duran "Nuthuggers"?

Floyd is certainly on the same level. His only "sin" is that he fights currently.

Robinson and Leonard are probably 1-2 in the welterweight category

There's no overrating either man at the weight

There's no overrating Floyd either until he comes close to defeat.

He'd want to I'm sure, but this is not about their sexual preferences.

Curry is ridiculously overrated...riCOCKulously in fact. Curry didn't beat anyone anywhere near Mayweather's level and got chinned by mcCallum and butchered by Honeghan.

Marlon Starling (Who Curry Beat Twice) is CLEARLY Better than Any Fighter Floyd Beat @ 147 (Floyd Fought a SHOT to Shit Sugar Shane)...Milton McCrory was @ Least AS GOOD of a Welter as Zab, Hatton or Baldomir were...Probably BETTER...Colin Jones & Nino LaRocca were Also LEGIT Top 10 Welters that Curry Wiped his Ass w/....Curry Fought & Beat THE BEST Welters of his Era, Something Floyd CAN'T Say..

As for McCallum, Curry was Actually BEATING him Rather Easy, Until Getting DRILLED w/a Homerun Shot in the 5th...But Curry had Won EVERY Round of the Bout Up to the Point...The OUTCOME of the McCallum Fight DOESN'T Illustrate How Good Curry WAS or How Good Curry was DOING in that Fight...

The Honeyghan Fight Should've NEVER Happened...Curry had been STRUGGLING to Make '47 by that Point & was Angling to Face Hagler as High as 160...Ray Leonard "Encouraged" Curry to Fight just 1 More Time @ Welter (KNOWING Donald Couldn't Make the Weight Anymore), which Turned Out to B the Loss to Honeyghan...THEN, Leonard Swooped in Behind Curry & Ended Up Facing Hagler Instead...

    Leonard SABOTAGED Curry, Basically...

This is getting a bit much now.

I guess Brian Nielson should have been rated as an elite fighter before he lost right Sly?

Is the concept of level of competition completely lost on you Sly?

Floyd fought a negative fight against the only good, natural welter he's faced that wasn't totally shot, and the fight was relatively close as a result.

Despite sometimes coming off as a nuthugger himself, Neil's post is pretty spot on.

Floyd lacks the cajones to really try and exert himself and take necessary risks against fully dledged welters.

Prime Curry would beat any 147 pound version of Floyd.

That's the essentially point where I and the rest of the forum disagree:

I think Floyd's level of comp has been fine. At least as good as Curry's in fact (beaten comp that is). Floyd's unbeaten record isn't as a result of fighting shitpisses. He's fought the best and beaten them. He's PROVEN his talent.

De La Hoya at 154lbs is as good or better than what's been accomplished by Curry. I don't even have to mention hatton, Mosley, Judah (when he was still a force to be recconded with) and the young hungry lion who gave Berto his first lost.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this padna...I think Floyd's level of comp has been just fine.

Colin Jones was better at 147 than Hatton.

Prime Milton McCrory was better than a shot DLH.

Then of course you have Starling, who's MUCH better than anyone Floyd beat at 147.

    Judah? Ortiz? Stop reaching Sly.

And even if we go BEYOND comp..... STYLEWISE, Curry was very bad for Floyd.

If Floyd's unbeaten record was only as a result of him not fighting anyone of note...he would have lost to at least one of the following:

    De La Hoya
    Judah
    Mosley
    Ortiz
    Hatton

No way does he survive all five of these fighters and be overrated.

Duran and many other greats had lost to lesser men along the way.

Bullshit. Stylewise Floyd is worse for Curry than the other way around.

Not @ 147, he HASN'T...Similar To Pacquiao, Floyd is a "PROVEN Talent" @ LOWER Weights, who's Good Enough to Beat SOME Welters...

But NEITHER Pac NOR Floyd are Good Enough to have Been DOMINANT Welters in ANY Era of Boxing...

Ugh. Stafford's nuthugging of Mayweather seems to be getting worse than ever. Curry is the better Welter and fought better competition.

This concept of Super Mayweather and his amazing inflated competition is getting way past old.

Ever try bending the wrong pole into tent pegs? 'Fucking thing.....grrrr.....get.....fucking....in!' That's the image that comes into my mind as Sly tries to bend reality to Floyd being a top 5 ATG welter.

    'Grrrrrrrrr.......SNAP'.

Floyd is very, very good. He was a good chance of beating Curry though at even odds my money would be with Don.

I'm sure I saw the same hungry young lion quit in the middle of a fight because he was getting punched in the face a bit too often for his liking, citing 'I'm young and don't deserve this'. I must be mistaken.
