Oscar by decision. Tough fight for him but his faster hands and better power convince the judges that he wins. Starling will complain about the decision, but it would be objectively correct.

starling competitively fought against donald curry and beat mark breland and honeyghan. oscar beat oba carr (while crapping himself) and coley. oh yea, he eaked out a controversial decision against a washed up whitaker.

    You can call whatever disputed.

However , rank DLH on these following fights that for the sake of argument we will call them very close or even.

    Pernell Whitaker
    Tito Trinidad
    Ike Quartey
    Sugar Shane Mosely
    Floyd Mayweather

Now some he had the upper hand , some he didn't.
Point being , if you fight on what we will round off to even terms with the above fighters , you are not a bad fighter yourself if you know what I mean.

    Ignore joony.

If it were Oscar de la Ching Lao there wouldn't even be a debate.

Were Mark Breland and Lloyd Honeyghan on the level of Oscar De La Hoya.

I think this would be yet another controversial decision in a DLH fight.

Be a very interesting fight. Even prime, Starling could be uneven so you never know; Oscar's flurries caught eyes.

I'm a big Starling fan but he could be frustrating sometimes. He could easily outbox DeLaHoya for the first two minutes of every round and then give the round away in the final minute.

Oscar was always a master of stealing rounds, Unfortunately Marlon was a master at giving them away.

I think Oscar wins a close and possibly controversial decision.

Well Oscar did "beat" Quartey(though arguable) and Ike was better than Honeyghan & Breland. He also arguably beat Tito and Tito was DEFINITELY better than Breland & Honeyghan.

delahoya got a gift against quartey and fought a weakened trinidad while still managing to look like shit. I hardly consider that past due version of trinidad some top tier welterweight. starlings key victories were decisive.

I got the Fujio Ozaki on my computer right now and that was not so decisive. Both these guys had moments when they fought to the level of their competition. Both also could be out worked. I think it comes down to who actually had the better skills and boxing ability.

Is that quote from Foreman better, or Steward saying in the Forbes fight "Oscar looks as good as he did ten years ago"??
