Duran vs Monzon @ 160

I don't expect anybody to give Duran a chance but how do you think the fight and style matchup plays out?

Monzon may stop Duran late, IMO.

 

Brutally. Monzon would embarrass Hagler here, in addition to his quarry. Duran gets, diced, boxed, and shipped back home along the Panama Canal.

Bad style matchup for Duran... Going against a guy who takes fighting tall to the highest form... Monzon by late stop sounds right to me

 

I give it ten, eleven rounds. Duran would retire on his stool. Monzon was all about methodical dismantling, and wouldnt chase an explosive end to the fight.

 

Monzon would beat the living shit outta him. Similar to the way he beat up Napoles, only Duran would last longer.

 

I think Duran would cause many more problems for Monzon than Napoles. It'd be a two way fight for most of it.

 

Duran would never get past Monzon's jab. And Monzon would physically MAN HANDLE him on the inside.

P4P, Duran was the better fighter. But at 160 Monzon beats him up BADLY.

 

Monzon's jab would decide the affair in the end and I think it'd eventually be a stoppage, but Duran would get past it plenty. Monzon isn't Hearns in the range department and Duran can do things in terms of rolling under shots & also in changing range quicker, which I don't think Napoles could.

Monzon wins, probably by late stoppage, but it wouldn't be a one sided pasting. Duran would take rounds and make others very competitive.

Duran needed 3 corrupt Judges to beat Barley at 168. Barkley is as tough as they come, but skilless. Mozon sodomizes him and Duran likes it.

 

Duran was 37 and had been fighting for 22 years... not exactly a fair argument

 

Duran would be competitive, but lose a clear decision.

Duran is too crafty to be manhandled on the inside even at 160, Hagler would testify to that.

Duran also lost to ever great fighter he ever fought. Monzon wins on being good and bigger.

I will do something refreshing. I just hate Duran. He was a dirty little asshole. I would root for Pol Pot over him. There you have it.

 

Duran would not and could not compete with Monzon, cmon Duran fans. There is zero shame in getting pasted here, even for career MWs --- but Duran would be no more in this fight than any other LW who ever moved up.

I'd never let anybody who doesn't like Duran babysit my children. Cant truss 'em.

 

I'm not a big Duran fan, but he was an awesome fighter, I think I am pretty objective generally

But I can't see him getting much done against Carlos, it's a bad style matchup for him

 

Carlos would take care of this troublemaker
