    Suspected Cases of Dirt or Confirmed

    * Clay vs Liston

    * Walcott vs Marciano

    Two of the famous "liniment" cases, where both men claimed something had gotten into their eyes as intended by the other side. Both men went on to win by TKO/KO

    I would be tempted to say Golota vs Bowe, but in that instance, dirt was directly responsible for the outcome, namely Golota being DQ'd :lol: Rios vs Peterson was another good example where dirt caused the actual outcome, namely a DQ.

    *Sakio Bika vs Joe Calzaghe, lots of dirt, Bika using everything, elbows, butts, cutting Joe to the bone with one headbutt, but Mickey Vann inexplicably letting it go all the way to the cards. :bangh::bs:

    * Wlad vs Sam Peter I. Wlad holding, Sam Peter banging to the back of the head repeatedly, both men get away with it, Peter's rabbit punches are lethal but Wlad wins more rounds and collects a decision.

    Holyfield-Bowe II had its share of dirt, including the infamous 4th round, but it didnt really change things.

    Was there ever really a claim of foul play against Walcott by Marciano, though? Not that Im aware of. Charles DID accuse Walcott of foul tactics (and vice-versa).

    There was dirt on both sides during Casamayor-Katsidis, but the result was clean.

    Foreman wouldve won his first fight against Frazier without the shoving.

    De La Hoya vs Vargas. Vargas was juiced, lost by KO.

    Did Vargas claim a low blow at one point, or is my memory tricking me (I know he was fouled by Trinidad)?

    That makes me think of Whitaker-Chavez for this thread.

    I don't think so, I know Oscar hit him after the bell in round 6, but I don't remember him hitting Vargas low.

    Oscar was wearing his protective cup really high.

    I do remember Lederman complaining. Maybe that explains it.

    Trinidad used low-blows to definitely stem the tide vs Vargas. They had a notable impact and Vargas waned in the later rounds. It's a close call, personally, I think the low-blows played a role in Vargas fading as badly as he did. Trinidad seemed to have more juice in the last 3 rounds.

    As for the Oscar fight, Vargas took gear, which didn't alter the outcome, he still got his ass kicked.

    Oscar hit him with a clean right hand after the bell to end the 6th I think. Not really a fight-changer for me.

    Other late blows to consider: Rahman vs Tua, definitely a game changer. Tony Ayala vs Tony Menefee, not a game changer at all, Menefee was losing that one all day and all night.

    Gatti probably would have beaten Gamache with or without the scales balancing. The weight-cheating just brought the KO forward a bit

    I honestly believe if Tyson's not held and head-butted everytime he gets close that he beats Holyfield.
