simple question: does jack nicholson do an absolutely appalling job of acting in every movie he's been in? no.

If you like his act, then the answer is a simple no. If you don't, then it is yes. He is the same in every single movie. I don't like his act. Therefore, he is always horrible.

You cant compare Connery and Jack.

Nicholson blows Connery out the water and isnt even remotely close.

It's Funny How this has Degenerated Into a Nicholson vs. Connery Debate, when BOTH of them R SUPERIOR to Eastwood, in Terms of Acting...As LIMITED as Nicholson & Connery R (in Terms of RANGE), they Blow Eastwood OUT of the Fucking Water...

Amen...but no, Eastwood is acting royalty.

Freeman was a bad guy in "Wanted."

I loved his line..."...then shoot this motherfucker now!"

Off screen Freeman is an interesting guy to say the least. Had a car crash with his mistress in the passenger seat, then last I heard he was marrying his step grand-daughter.

No, both Nicholson and Eastwood are miles above Connery. None of them has that much variety, but two out of three are able to express emotions, which is what acting mostly is about

  13.

    bizarre fellow indeed.

  14. Have you seen "Dr No" and "From Russia with Love"? You need to watch those films.

Perhaps Connery has been bad in certain films, but in his PRIME..dude was superb.

  15. :atu:

Eastwood is an excellent actor. You're crazy.

I'd take Eastwood over Connery 7 days out of the week and twice on Sunday! Neither one was a bad actor. Eastwood was a considerably better one though.

    Jack's better than both though.

I mean, ASIDE from the Jack movies that have already been mentioned.

Jack in "Hoffa">>>>>>>> Any Eastwood or Connery performance.

BTW - I agree 100% with whoever said Sidney Poitier. He was fucking TERRIBLE!

As far as black actors go, Denzel & Morgan Freeman have more acting talent in one testicle than Poitier's ugly ass!

  18. I said it. And I agree with you 100%.

  19. I haven't seen Hoffa. Connery in the very first two Bond Films is as good (if not better) a performance as any Nicholson performance that I've seen.

Eastwood is simply genius in the man with no name films and he was great in "Dirty Harry" and "Magnum Force". I don't get the Eastwood denigrating.

Connery is the same character in every movie though..even when he's playing a russian or spaniard..cant he even put on an accent???? the chcik from X-Files is better than him

i rate guys like Bruce Willis above him

When has Willis ever sported an accent? Never heard Clooney try one either. Some actors just know better. It would sound ridiculous coming from them.

Once again, screen presence and charisma, sometimes trumps "acting".

    Eastwood shits on Connery.

Sidney Poitier was the "Jackie Robinson" of his Era Or the "Joe Louis", so to Speak...REED Likens Poitier to an Old School Emcee in Hip Hop...

If You CRITIQUE Run DMC's Lyrics by TODAY'S Standards, they'll Suffer...Hip Hop has EVOLVED Lyrically, Since Run DMC's Days, but they've EARNED their Place in History & Certain fREEDoms, as a Result...Same Goes for Sidney Poitier...Mekhi Phifer & Omar Epps are 2 SUPERIOR Black Actors who will Never EVER Be Held in the Same Regard as Poitier, but REED Doesn't have a Problem w/it...Phifer & Epps Probably DON'T Either....

Poitier was All WE Had @ 1 Point, Brother Sly...

  26. I hear you.

Agree. If we are calling him a great person for opening the door to blacks in Hollywood etc...this I agree with. He should be held in high regard for this. But let's not call him a great actor, that's all.

Your jackie Robinson and Joe Louis analogies are spot on in the "opening the door" regard.

Poitier was very similar to Paul Robeson in terms of his acting style. More of a throwback, built for the theatre, more then for films.

Canada Lee was probably the very best of the early black actors. He didn't appear in many films but stood out when he did. He stole the show in the boxing movie "Body & Soul". More naturalistic then most performances of that time period.

I agree with this but I reverse Eastwood and Connery in your statement. Connery was a badass.
