World awaits! Heavyweight double-header, Coming up next weekend in Helsinki, Finland.

Povetkin-Boswell is probably a stinker of a fight but somewhat interesting as Boswell actually has a shot here. Povetkin has looked bad ever since he teamed up with Atlas and Boswell, even though he is old, might have a good style to beat Povetkin. However, Povetkin by dec is the safe bet.

Helenius-Chisora should be a good scrap since neither can move but both can punch. Chisora is the first of Helenius' opponents who actually comes to the ring wanting to win and go ahead on his career so he has the motivation. However his style plays straight to Helenius' hands as Robert is a big puncher and can take a shot. Helenius in 7 is my pick.

Undercard includes unbeaten German scrub heavyweight Edmund Gerber against Michael Sprott and unbeaten Finn scrub heavyweight Jarno Rosberg against a fat guy from Argentina

I think I had a sort of thread for this already, no? :kidcool:

    Povetkin W12 Boswell

    Helenius KO11 Chisora

Povetkin really is a waste of talent. Boswell is the guy Vitali was scheduled to fight before he got the 10 day call up to fight Lewis. That was in June of 2003. Over 8 years ago.

Povetkin should be ashamed of himself. He's got plenty of talent but has added no wrinkles to his game, a bit of head-movement and defense would have gone a long way. He's made goof after goof with his training and his fitness. Atlas is borderline insane, he has no business near somebody of dubious character like Povetkin.

Helenius has probably got a more important fight. A win over Chisora would legitimize his standing quite a bit. Sure, Peter, Lyakhovich and Brewster are big names, and his finishing of them was highlight-reel quality, but they were all badly faded fighters. Chisora is relatively fresh and we are told he has taken this one seriously. A stoppage win here for Helenius, and in great style, would see him get a WBC top-10 rating and push him out in front of the pack.

Then he can go and knock out Wilder and Mitchell. :bears:

Aside from a possible May-Pac...Cotto-Margarito is the only fight that interests me at the moment.

Isn't Chisora coming off a fairly lopsided loss to Tyson Fury? This would not be a good win for Helenius, sorry.

Yes but since I am going to be there, I'll try to fool everybody thinking that this is a big deal by creating several threads about it:mj:

Yes. Chisora claimed that he was ill before the fight (which caused him to weight 20 lbs more than he does now) but judging from that performance he shouldn't be much of a challenger here. However he still is a solid European level fighter and Helenius is untested himself (as he has only beaten washed-up fighters), this is a solid bout. Won't take Helenius much forwards in his career though. The winner of this bout is supposed to fight Dimitrenko early next year

He fought good comp and seemed to have an attractive, pressure-based style. He was happy to take on Byrd, Chambers, Estrada, even Muhammad Ali at one point inside his first 15 fights.

But now he seems fleshy and distracted.

The fight got lopsided as soon as Chisora's limited conditioning ran out. When he had some gas in the tank he was able to back Fury up and make it a very close fight. It's a good win for Helenius in more ways than the name on his record....a win over Chisora pretty much throws him into the mix with guys like Fury, Price....nothing fighters as of yet, but there's a fortune to be made there. It also gets him a WBC top 10 ranking.....so its a good win regardless, even if the opposition is lacking. Thats what I meant when I said it was a "good win".

Well if you were still in Blighty would could sign up to Boxnation for £10 per month and get the entire Helenius/Povetkin card and the Margarito vs Cotto fight just for openers this month. Not bad.

In fact, if you were any way handy, you could go on eBay, get a satellite dish and a used SKY box with a card in it, set the dish up to align with the Astra satellite at 28.8 degrees, and then sign up to Boxnation. They would ping the box via the satellite system and validate whatever number on the card you gave them. It sounds difficult but its no harder than using a compass and aiming a dish into the sky.

Fury is awful though. Making it a very close fight before he ran out of gas doesn't give me much hope.

Fury is massive though. He's got a bit of a chin, and his arm punches alone are harmful. It's like Loughran fighting Carnera or Johnson fighting Willard. The sheer marauding mass of Fury would make life hard for anyone who lacked serious pop and proper counter-punching skills. I've lost a lot of faith in Fury too, but he's one of these shit fighters you have to be good to beat.

Is Povetkin not fighting Holyfield next month then? In addition to Boswell? Every schedule I've seen has both fights listed.

Helinius is a good puncher...I think he'll stop Chisora who is C level at best.

No, the Holyfield bout was luckily cancelled in favor of this one. Holy will probably be at ringside.

I'm stuck in two minds for the Chisora/Helenius fight. If Chisora is in shape for this one, he should pose problems. Helenius isn't great, but he's a pretty solid boxer/puncher. Chisora likes to gain the initiative and get on the inside, so it should be pretty tasty early on. I have Helenius as favourite, but not with any real certainty and I have a feeling Chisora could lack stamina during this and get stopped.
