Sounds like a Tahitian fisherman. Ending fish careers left and right.

"Vitali is a monster," only in this most putrid of eras could a guy who couldnt stop a mummified Shannon Briggs (despite being incapable of missing all night), be considered a monster

Unless of course youre of the opinion Briggs, "was tougher than in his prime."

Agreed. Castillo beats them both. With skills on the inside.

It reminded me of that monster Sonny Liston hitting 190 lbs string bean Eddie Machen with everything for 12 rounds :lol: Some monster there :lol: during the putrid 60s :lol:

Or Lewis pounding on that Sequoia that was Mavrovic.

Leave Lewis out of this. He had to no problem stopping Briggs early. :nono:

Nor Quarry Shavers. Nor Foreman Norton. Nor Nunn Kalambay. Nor Johannson Machen. Nor Cooney Norton. Nor Coetzee Spinks.

You can come up with a million examples of "lesser" punchers doing a better job on a guy. Lewis was a better puncher than Vitali, but he gassed in that fight and was also sent sprawling by Briggs. I think its a fair point to say that the older Briggs took a better punch. Its not a wild extension of logic to say that. He had no chance of winning, but was adequately disposed for Vitali's high-activity, lower-power output.

Norris blew Taylor out, but Chavez fucked Taylor up.

Please don't get me wrong, I accept the general point, but its folly to bend the general point to an extreme.

Did I just read the 60's was a putrid era? Of course I did --- from a guy who just used an exception in Liston's career (against a WAYYYY better foe than ANY Briggs) to prove a point...in a bout Im quite confidemt youve never seen anyway.

Liston was good fighter but there were some shit fighters out there. I don't think Mac Foster, Zora Folley, Eddie Machen, Johannsson or that lower-tier of fighters from that era would have beaten Vitali. I don't think Henry Cooper would have gone 8 rounds with him and I don't think Bugner would have beaten him either. Like it or not, Vitali is one of these lowly-regarded guys that requires a very very good fighter to beat him.

Part of the reason I don't want him to fight Haye {just part of it, mind} is that if he were to look bad, or even lose, it would be used as a stick to beat him with, despite the fact that the guy is 40 years of age and has 3 major injuries under his belt. Most folk are just out there loitering with the intent to downrate the guy like he was the Portuguese debt or something {:crafty:} They know that every win he racks up inches him towards respectability, but like any disliked fighter, a half-bad showing is a reason to take him down a few pegs.

I dont see you having anything to worry about. Klitschko will win handsomely.

I have seen the fight. And if we talk about exceptions, isn't Vitali's KO % rather high one, so couldn't we sort of say that the Briggs fight was an exception? And I have WAYYYYY trouble to see a 190 lbs contender lasting the distance with Vitali, in fact I have trouble to see such fight getting even licensed.

Hate is a beautiful thing though:cheer:

Of course. Anytime someone isnt impressed with a fighter, it's hate.

We learned that one back in the day from the Titosites.

Anybody but the guy who was ready to retire a couple of weeks ago (after a completely pathetic performance), but was dragged back in by the odor of a big pile of cash.

I'd rather see him fight Valuev

never said it was a dream fight, only that it would be better than the travesty that the Haye fight is. At least I think he'll give it a try.

But I forgot, there's hype around this fight. Haye will talk with false bravado ( and will once again fight timidly), Vitaly will respond with threats of how he's going to destroy him cause he insulted his little brothers (and he'll do his usual routine of arm punching his opponent for 10 rounds, after wich Haye will quit claiming a toe injury).

But I forgot, there's hype around this fight, no wonder a clown like you support it

    yeah, I'm "supporting" it

I could not give a fuck about this fight, but you are a jackass for suggesting that somehow fighting the guy Haye already beat who has been retired for TWO YEARS is a more legitimate fight... that makes NO sense at all

I'm just fucking with him, I hope nobody was offended, its not like Ireland, or Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, are palm-tree heaven either

In fact, I saw a dead Pine Marten on the road the other day. Ireland and Canada are pretty much alike. I might order a few furs and then tramp around the country roads in them, with a big walking stick, Hallam Foe-Style, that'll put he wind right up the local aristocracy, private land-owners....Orange left-overs, the lot of them.
