Anybody else think Froch's gonna knock out Ward?

First off, you are wrong when you "agree" with Reed that I was referring to "regular people" or something like that.

BOXING people are who I talk about.

Not the people who will tune in when Pac fights Floyd or the average dude who bought Wlad vs Haye or who wants to know when Naz is fighting De La Hoya or any of that.

The people who maintain boxing websites or publications or who frequent boxing websites such as these, or who maintain a cable contract specifically to get the fights, or who have sat through several obscure non-PPV, non-hyped fights.

That is the class of person I believe will be shocked if Froch had an easy night with Ward.

Other fighters, retired fighters, real fans, website people, forum-fans, writers, journalists, colour-commentators, EMcee's, etc would be shocked if Froch had it easy with Ward.

Just how anything I said could be translated as a belief that seismic events would occur in the mainstream North Dakota is beyond me.

 

I think it would be a substantial upset. One guy fights in a professional legal manner. The other is allowed to hump, maul, headbutt, elbow, hump and hump again and stay in his country of origin knowing the complacent referee will never admonish him. I have yet to see an Andre Ward fight in which he actually won the fight. He should have lost nearly all his fights by disqualification. Froh not only has to beat Ward, he has to beat the referee. Froh should train for a UFC fight because Ward has yet to ever be in a Boxing match.

 

He pretty much had Kesslers number, through a combination of Ward's own innate talent, Kesslers having taken him lightly and Ward being permitted to cheat.

He, Ward, does have talent, you can't cheat your way anywhere, all of the time. He ruins the qualities he does have with this.

Personally, I don't give a fuck what he looks like, stylistically. I'll watch any style. I might enjoy one style more than the next. But I will watch them all. Its a fist-fight. Whatever gets you through and out the far-side with your pay-check is acceptable, IMHO.

But Ward is definitely a cheat and a humper.

He didn't train with any slicksters as far as I know. He also arrived in America kind of late.

I made a simple statement- for Froch to beat Ward easily would be a major surprise in the USA/amongst real boxing fans in the USA. It would not be a shock in England because, for some reason, they think Froch is an indomitable force.

Whatever. It would be a massive surprise ANYWHERE if Froch handles Ward with ease.

And do me a favour Reed, I watch enough of fights to know that EVERY hometown takes care of its own.

When a boxing commissioner is referring to the weighing of gloves as "bullshit" then that sort of catches my attention.

We all know that there isn't any chance in hell of the SUPERFIGHT being nixed by the inconvenience of a guy like Marquez. Things can, and do, get taken care of in this sport. Sometimes all you need is a ref with a sick daughter, and those things get taken care of cheaply.

 

The way I see it..... if Andre Dirrell had half a brain, and more mental toughness, he'd have beaten Froch by a lop sided margin.

The one thing I will say about Ward is..... outside of Floyd, he has perhaps the highest ring IQ in the sport.

Add to that the fact he has Frochy totally outgunned in terms of speed, and skill, and is mentally tough enough and mean enough to not get bullied on the inside.

I just struggle to see Froch winning.

I really hope the ref on the night doesnt allow Ward head butting shit, it will only spoil the fight, cause he will only re-open his own cut on froch's granite head.

 

ward has a greco roman wrestler-like upper body strength that gives him an advantage against most guys at 168. plus, he's also the most athletic and well schooled guy out there. i still think froch's movement and fluid punching might give him fits, but ward should figure him out in the early, mid-rounds to dominate.

 

Froch is the most experinced fighter in this touranment and probably the hardest, so its no shock he's in the final. Ward has not really been tested in level of opponent, accept kessler and that was very dodgy with all the heads butts and hard to count. however, Froch has been matched up with many styles in last 4 years Pascal, Taylor, Direll, Kessler, abraham and johnson. i dont think it will; be an easy nights work for Ward.

Ward would beat Dirrell for the same reasons that Dirrell is not in the final, namely that Dirrell is simply not cut out upstairs for this level of action. That and the serious brain injury he incurred vs Abraham.

I don't blame Dirrell too much. When you are with Shaw, its only a matter of time before the fatness and the sheer grubbery of the man rub off on you.
