I often lament how lazy Hollywood's writers are, as partly evidenced by film titles. Examples of their apathy...

    Casino
    The Heist
    Bad Santa
    Bad Teacher
    The 40-Year-Old Virgin

So lets hear some examples to the contrary.

"Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead"

    "8 Million Ways To Die"

2 very good movies that are also proof short titles are a function of marketing and not apathy. Both were box office busts when they came out.

Also, never saw this but probably fits:

"The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain".

    good ones for varied reasons:

    die hard
    snakes on a plane
the good the bad and the ugly
    reservoir dogs
    pulp fiction

Titanic . It should have been more IMAGINATIVE like Ramonza said and called. Boats, Hos and Ice Bergs.

  6. BOSS

The Termnitaor. How UNimaginative. It should have been called. The cyborg from the future who is sent back in time to kill an unborn leader of a future human resistance.

No strings attached - should have been called Your date better suck your dick.

  8. Your Titanic response was hilarious...but you should have quit while you were ahead.

Good, the bad and the ugly is a great title.

What about that one, I dont know the whole name, but something about not being a menace to South Central.

I quite like, "Tears of the Sun," &, "Road To Perdition."

The above are both real films, the latter is ridiculously funny, the former received a hysterical treatment from MST3K

Maybe it's imaginative in it's simplicity. Perhaps you're mistaking the number of words in the title for "imagination".

"Up" is really a metaphor for the movie and not self-explanatory. It was a risky choice. They could have called it "Old Man And A Boy" or "The Balloon House", or "Helium".

    :nono:

I don't think it was anything more complicated than laziness, ala, "Bad Teacher," & movies along those lines.

You oay obviously read more into the title.
