Okay, let's break it down into specifics. Specifically, I believe that the preponderance of the US mainstream sports press and hard-line boxing press do not like the Klitschkos, do not understand them, or their value to boxing, and hope that they lose.

You claim that these people are apart from the rest of the country.

Fine. I will settle for that and will never again equate mainstream sports press or hardcore boxing press with the broader sporting public.

I agree in part. Americans will never warm to Wlad and his horrific style. I think they are great as ambassadors. Muhammad Ali has an 80 IQ and in my opinion is a pedophile. He is a disgusting man who carried on an affair on television whilst his wife and children watched on tv. The Brothers K are cultured, educated and well adjusted, the antithesis of the typical boxer who is illiterate, uneducated, uncultured and criminally oriented.

I hate Wlad because he sucks to watch. I'd be happy if he were my neighbor. He seems a fine chap. I just hate him as a fighter. I can't believe he has a single fan. I don't watch people fight because I think they are bright and decent people.

You think Dan Rafael knows more about actual boxing (not the BUSINESS of boxing, the sport itself) than say, me?

You read an article by one of those idiots if you want to find out news, if a guy was hurt, when the fight is going to be, did a guy fire his trainer, etc... but I can not imagine anyone who actually follows the sport or has even a cursory knowledge of the game past to present looks to some writer as the be-all end-all for who the better fighter is or who is going to win... Those guys' actual knowledge of the game itself has never impressed me, I would be shocked if it impressed anyone here

Most of the guys here understand the game better than Steve Kim or Rafael or any other writer you want to mention

 

I read a story once about a man who was bitter, for some reason or other. He was in his office, and this fly landed in his ink. He dug the fly out with a pen and he watched it shake the ink off and rise to its feet. He was intrigued by this, and used his pen to drop some more ink onto the fly. He watched as the fly shook this off and then he dropped some more ink on him. The fly shook that off too and, somewhat angry, the man dropped some more ink on the fly. The fly sagged badly......but started to shake off the ink. Wlad is like that fly. He's a fragile fighter that can be got at. Like the fly, he refuses to go easily. I think there is something in people, we like to see the breakable broken, and if it puts up resistance, and refuses to go away, people become nigh-apoplectic with dislike and double their desire to see it broken.

I think people want to see him beaten simply because they know it can be done. And they feel it is by now overdue. The guy is supposed to lose. So why does he keep trying to shake the ink off?

I'd rather watch a great fighter who is an absolute jerk (Whitaker, Chavez, Mayweather) than one who is soft and fights scared all the time but is probably a great guy (Wlad)

No, it's his style. If he fought like he did when he first came up, I would still be a fan. I fucking bought all of his fights and they were in Russian, an insult to me and my ancestors. I would rather he kept his "Blitzkrieg" style and have 3 more losses than what he has become. Wlad used to be a beautiful fighter to watch. He threw 80 kayo punches a round and knocked the shit out of people. So no, it is the style because I used to like him and I hate him now. (as a fighter)

THe reason boxing guys respect his brother is because he goes out there and shows them for what they really are--- bums... he goes out there and he beats them rotten, all over the ring, busts them up and likes it and you know what? he seems like a nice fellow anyway

Wlad goes out there against the same level of dogshit and cautiously jabs and holds and retreats from every weak opponent punch as if a missile were flying towards him, he fights like shit against shit, that's why people hate him... Wlad is a guy that would be taken out in a better time against gamer, more determined and more skillfull opponents... People can't say that about Vitali, because Vitali can take shots and Vitali wants to fight, wants to beat you up

 

I disagree, but only in part. News plays a role, but when a guy gives review of a fight he's never seen, {CJ vs JMM} I expect the guy to go clean out of business overnight.

 

This I am in 100% agreement with...BUT.....in this business...I don't think Wlad would have been offered a deal worth a fuck if he lost every 4th or 5th fight. He'd have been getting $200,000 for undercard shoot-outs.

I mean..Jake himself said he celebrated like hell when Sanders beat him, and that was when Wlad was trying to KO everyone :dunno:

I could read a Dan Rafael article (hypothetically... if I actually did this, I would hunt down and kill Dan Rafael) and it does not mean that I have to agree with him...
