Shane hit Margarito with so many flush shots to the head, it was like hitting a punching bag. Shane got heavy hands, his right hand comes with speed. Cotto couldn't hurt him because he has only the left hook to do some damage with. Cotto's right hand is soft, like De La hoya's.

 

Same here, i think the gloves fiasco before the fight got him out of his zone and played a role in his ko loss.

 

you had writers like steve kim calling margarito the tijuana torta before his fight with mosley. it was pretty well known he was living the high life after beating cotto and had to lose a lot of weight prior to facing mosley

I agree. Most are overlooking the fact that Shane broke Margarito down to the body. Shane had been fighting strong chinned Mexicans before he even went pro and what he learned from that was that those tough chinned guys couldn't take it to the body nearly as much as they could to the chin. That's why when Shane first came on the scene he was such a consistent body puncher right up to the point when he moved to 147.

So I don't think it takes away from Tony's chin that Shane KO'd him, since like I said Shane broke him down to the body and Margarito was out of shape.

 

how is it an excuse if it was mentioned before the fight occurred? it was an observation and it was a criticism where professionalism was concerned.

 

it most certainly did. it aint hindsight or retrospect, it was all over the internet BEFORE the fight.

Jackson couldnt drop or stop McClellan at middleweight, so a Lopez-Jackson fight wouldve been a fair matchup in terms of Power vs Chin.

But going on the opposition and flush-shots Lopez could take at 147lb, I fancy he would weather Jackson...

 

Margarito has a tyson-esque chin, in terms of the sort of chin he has.

You can bomb him out, eventually, if you can keep hitting him clean enough.

Margarito was probably harder to discourage. His lack of intelligence makes it hard to dissuade him. It's like dissuading a virus. It can't be done. You need to lyse the fucker. Mike had more of a conscience and so could be got at a bit more.

But you can't take Tony the Thief out easily, not at all.

 

Chin is solid. Shows how hard Mosley punches that he could crack that chin.

Mosley didn't crack his chin at all. Mosley beat him up to the body and head and basically broke him down- against a back-drop of Apache Tony being caught with his loaded-wraps.

Floyd's chin is his defense. He doesn't get tagged too clean too often especially by the unseen stuff.

Easily top 5 in my lifetime. Anytime Cotto landed power shots he just laughed at him and made Cotto run away. His chin is rediculous.

 

When you get hit with around 50% of your opponents power shots your gonna be rocked or KO'd at some point.

 

Go to the end of round 9. Cotto cracks him with a huge left hook. Margarito then chased him accross the ring laughing at him.

 

I guess it had more to do with the small difference of being hit by a faded 147 lbs fighter and being hit by a healthy,primed 250 lbs beast.
