Not a MM, as it possibly could happen one day still. As of right now, who wins?

Rios has the better chin, at least against 135 lb'ers. Maidana has the edge in power. I think Rios wins a late TKO after tasting the canvas once or twice in a war.

I think a ring IQ of at least 20 is required to beat Rios, who himself weighs in at a hefty 15.

    Rios TKO 12 Maidana.

I'd pick Rios in a heartbeat

    Rios TKO 8

Maidana would make it a war but Rios has the better chin and stamina. He could take Maidana's punches. Not so sure Maidana can take Rios best.

    Maidana's chin isn't good?

Not really, His recuperative powers are what carries him to the finish line, though.

Exactly, he recovers and has heart, toughness etc, but as far as raw chin - he can be hurt easily enough as evidenced in the Ortiz and Morales fights.

It's not awful, but it's not good either.

Would be a good first fight at 140 for Rios by the way for several reasons.

He would almost certainly beat Maidana, just by being offensively neater, more compact, accurate etc, and skilled.

It would be a good fight, they'd beat the crap out of each other, very crowd friendly.

It would be good leverage for a Khan fight, if they had a common opponent that Rios bashed more easily.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rios - Alvarado either.

Rios doesnt want anything to do with Khan, believe that

Oh shut the hell up! You act as if Khan strikes Tyson/Foreman like fear into opponents. I doubt Rios is scared to fight ANYBODY. But considering that Rios is with my Top Rank, and Khan GB, dont count on that matchup getting made anytime soon.

That's good news for Rios. You know Amir would give your boy a beating, X. He's good but Amir is too much for him, he'll get peppered at will.

Khan would be the favorite, and for good reason, but Rios would be a very live underdog IMO.

Khan will pepper him early, for sure. But if its round 7-8, and Rios is still coming forward, and Khan begins to slow down, then Amir is trouble.

If Rios gets Khan in serious trouble like Maidana did, fight over. Rios is a good finisher (unlike Maidana), and throws short, compact, accurate power punches (unlike Maidana).

I'm not 100% sure either way who wins a Rios-Khan matchup, but to say Rios is scared is foolish. Rios is too cocky and too retarded to have fear of anyone.

Is Rios definitely moving up to 140 then? I'd like to see how he does there, as I said, I don't think the other night was a fair reflection of him if he was weight drained so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Khan is moving up to 147 anyway after he obliterates Petersen so Khan-Rios isn't likely anytime soon

I say he should move up to 140, if he's struggling with his weight. Can't be good for him to starve himself before fights.

Maidana is a club fighter. Period. There is nothing world class about this guy. If he could punch, he would have kayoed a mere con. Funny, the only guy who exposed this guy is Emmanuel Stewart. Maidana will make a good door greeter at the Evita Peron Corpse Museum someday, but he blows as a fighter.

I think I overrated Maidana's power, but he still has some pop, there's no doubting that.

He can punch a little bit, no doubt. Maidana is a poor man''s Randall Bailey. He is quite awful at the world class level. HBO tries to talk about him like he is Julian Jackson, but cruder. He is Randall Bailey, but cruder. If he had Jackson type Power, a mere con would be with Allah now.RIOS is better, but I'd never bet on Rios. With his style, his chin is just going to give one day. I have seen him in 2 round fights where he took ridiculous trauma in a short time. Rios will have a very short career. It will be fun while it lasts. He is one of the few watchable fighters today.

I would absolutely count on this fight happening well before Rios-Maidana, or Rios v. any Golden Boy fighter.

He's definitely moving up. His manager is pissed at him (and at Garcia) for starving to death the week leading into the weigh-in. He said for that they would've modified the contract, saved having to pay a fine and not have Rios look like the walking dead.

It can't be good at all for a boxer to go without the required nutrients etc leading up to a fight. Would Rios have had to of used supplements instead, or what?

When the hell is Rios going to fight someone good? I was hardly impressed with his fight this weekend. I don't know what people see in this guy.

Why not, if I may ask?

I think if he's as good as people say he would have done a better job beating up a nobody.

What is the deal with Garcia? He seems more like a friend to these guys than a trainer? does he care about any of his fighter's health?

Right, he's a cunt. It's not like he's anything special as a trainer either. He's befriended a couple of mexicans, and because he's all street-gangsta/bad ass cholo they like him and he ends up earning some money.

Got to give Murray a little credit. He took a beating in the end, but gave as good as he could. I wouldn't call him a total scrub. He showed a good chin and gave back some.

He's a tough dude, no doubt and did a good job. He pretty much exposed Rios as far as I am concerned. Rios will lose soon. As soon as he fights a real top fighter.
