Realistically, what are Manny's chances of beating Floyd

I just dont see how he can beat Floyd. He isnt gonna outland him, so I only think Manny can win by stoppage, and I dont think he has enough one shot power to get Floyd going. Please give me some hope if this fight happens because frankly , I see this as a monumental

Pacquiao chance is by KO...one perfect punch similar to Hatton...probability of it happening...not very good.

And just like most of his fights at 147 Pacquiao will be at a size disadvantage, but this time against a fighter who is more skilled then him, with fast hands, a good jab, and probably the best defense since Pernell Whitaker...so it doesn't look good for Pacquiao. But that is why they fight the fight.....

    Right now? Not great.

Floyd has problems with fighters faster than him, like Judah, and southpaws.

Problem is Manny has slowed down now, since Hatton and Cotto, and I would say the fighters are now a similar speed, so Manny won't even hold a speed advantage.

Floyd's chin is solid, and his defense is superb, so I've NEVER thought Manny would have much of a chance of KOing him with 1 punch etc. Floyd would be too cautious and defensive for that.

Before, I was learning towards Pacquiao let's say 55 to 45, of simply overwhelming Floyd with speed and activity and unpredictability, and winning a close decision.

Now though, it's not just speed, but also risk taking. Pacquiao doesn't have what it takes anymore to take enough risks to win. By his own standards, he fought a fucking tame fight Vs Marquez in the 3rd fight. He was prepared to walk through more counters in the 1st and 2nd fights in order to do some damage of his own.

He is no longer prepared to take those risks, and instead chose to box more conservatively against Marquez.

Boxing Floyd is a ludicous strategy obviously, the only way he would have ever beaten him is overwhelming him with activity, speed, and intelligent, unpredictable aggression.

The safe pick is Floyd by clear decision if the fight does happen, probably 9 to 3 or so.

    Where are the excuses?

Anyone with two eyes and a brain (not sure if you qualify), can see the Pacquiao that fought Shane and Marquez isn't the same fighter than fought Hatton and Cotto.

Floyd has slowed down too, the difference is his style is perfectly suited to it.

Manny's high energy style isn't exactly suited to a fighter in their 30's.

Manny 2 years ago would have given Floyd a beating, which is exactly why Floyd ducked him

Think about it, if Floyd was as confident as you of beating Manny 2 years, who not just give him the easy arse kicking you envisage and collect his career high payday of countless millions?

The reason is he would have lost and he knew it.

Based on the recent performances of both, Mayweather appears sharper. And while Floyd handled Marquez easier, he too has slowed down. Its a competitive fight. I sure as hell dont see Floyd walking through him and alot of the problems that Judah gave him, Pacquiao could very well do the same and more.

  8. ILLUMINATI

Pacquiao has slow down a bit..just a bit all things being equal not enough to change the outcome in a Mayweather fight.

Other than size and I know Mayweather groupies don't want to hear the size different but their is a big one, regardless if Mayweather started at 130...just look at Mayweather vs. Marquez, Mayweather looked HUGE compare to Marquez...while Pac and Marquez look similar.

But what HURT Pacquiao chances to most is that he has been civilized, Nacho said that today Pacquiao is much easier to deal with because the animal in him had been tamed by Roach...he is more predictable now.

The fight will NEVER happen. Arum is too scared Pacquiao will lose, and Mayweather's too scared he'll lose.

Between them, the bout is dead. This is just another thread for laughs.

What would have happened if Pacquaio destroyed Marquez in 3? Mayweather would have never called out Pacquaio. NEVER.

Now he is willing to sign the contract FIRST. That's what that fight with Marquez meant to the potential superfight we've all been WAITING for.

I've always favored Floyd. Bigger, stronger and superb counters to offset Manny's speed plus his greatest weapon versus a soutpaw, his lead straight right hand. That's why it was so upsetting, he kept finding EXCUSES not fight Manny, when the latter was rolling over Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Mosley.

Right now, it will be closer than people think with Floyd winning SD with a rematch just as appealing and just as profitable.

Yeah, Floyd "ducked" Manny 2 years ago. Except nothing has changed wrt the negotiations from Floyd's end, he's still making the exact same demands. Manny's stance is the one that's changed. Think about that slowly for a minute, maybe have a nearby grown adult explain it to you. They might make fun of you for being stupid, be sure to threaten them with your amateur boxing skills if this happens.

    Now, let's see..

And then of course, before the Marquez fight you picked Pacquiao to annihilate Marquez, in response to Sly

After the Shane fight: Manny is faster than Floyd, best fighter in the world, it was Shane's fault the fight went that way

Before the Marquez fight: The object of my gay lust will kill Marquez, etc etc

After the Marquez fight: Pacquiao performed poorly, just like he has in every other outing against Marquez, so he must be shot. I mean, just look at the Shane Mosley fight, the fight after which I was saying Manny was faster than Floyd.

What anyone with two eyes and a brain can see is that you're a delusional ballsucking retard whose pussy gets wet for Manny Pac.

I hope you had a nice evening digging up those posts, you loser.

The fact remains, Pacquiao looked tepid against Shane too, but even worse against Marquez. That was after only viewing the Shane fight once. The truth is it was a pretty tepid performance, and he did look significantly slower than a couple of years ago. At the time I thought it was 99% Shane's fault. In retrospect a lot of was Manny's fault too. It's hard to look good against a guy who doesn't want to fight, but it's clear Manny has lost that killer instinct. You think the Manny that fought Barrera would have been content with that sparring session? Fuck no, he would have chased Shane out of the ring.

Your hero Floyd ducked Manny when he was more prime 2 years ago because he knew he would lose, deal with it.

The better Pacquaio got, the further Mayweather would be from fighting him.

Pacquaio comes out looking worse than before, perhaps slowing down, throwing less combinations, "forgetting his right hands and his new "techniques", Mayweather is more enthused about a fight with Pacquaio.

Floyd's only concern is, is it safe NOW to fight a legendary FIGHTER like Pacquaio?

Bang on, this is what I'm talking about.

He is more predictable and deliberate now, not the unpredictable whirlwind, modern day Armstrong that sort of defined Pacquiao back in the day.

Not only that but he's lost some fighting spirit in the ring, he's no longer willing to take the same chances in the ring he would gladly take a few years ago.

That's probably more important then him having slowed down.

I didn't spend more than a couple of minutes getting those posts, nice attempt at deflecting from the content of them though.

Not many people know this, but Pacquiao has actually been shot since the second Barrera fight. You think that the Pacquiao that fought Barrera the first time would have been content with that sparring session??!!

Your ability to shamelessly repeat the same sentence after it's been thoroughly deconstructed and destroyed may be a sign of a serious mental disorder. Or, it could just be that you lack the ability to comprehend what you read.

I think Floyd was willing to fight Manny 2 years ago as much as he is willing right now.

Him reserving May 5th doesn't change anything. I think his stance has always been the blood test.

I put it more on Manny not taking the tests why this fight hasn't happened yet.

I know this shit has been debated to death but I have never heard one boxer side with Manny on the blood test.

I do think Manny has slowed down but so has Floyd for years now. He is just an overrall better fighter than Manny period.

people saying Manny is shot are fucking retarded or dont' know the meaning of "shot" Roy and Holyfield are shot.

declining or slipping don't mean your done.

Pacquiao went through a lull in his career, where despite no physical decline, he basically lost his fighting spirit. Me, REED, and a few others picked up on it, and basically thought Manny probably wouldn't continue to be an elite fighter for much longer. It was the Solis, Barrera and Marquez fights, he looked disinterested in all 3.

This is the same, except at this stage in his career, he's unlikely to suddenly get the fire in his belly again, plus he really has slowed down significantly now.

Also I find it hilarious you have the stupity to call me a Pacquiao nuthugger, when you're not only the biggest Flomo here, but you have no idea what you're talking about, you just blindly talk shit, without really knowing the score. I used to be a big time Pacquiao hater/detractor, and argue with Slice every day about him being overrated, and that Morales or Barrera would beat the crap out of him.

    Let's look at the facts.

I picked Barrera to beat him.

I picked Morales to beat him.

I picked Oscar to beat him.

I picked him to have tough, close fights with David Diaz, Hatton, and Cotto.

I said Marquez fights 2 and 3 could have gone either way, and even 2 years ago, I picked him to beat Floyd by close decision, in a fight I feel would have been almost 50/50.

He's consistently exceeded my expectations, and I rightfully think he's an amazing fighter.

And that makes me a nuthugger?

You're a clown, it's you who's the nuthugger. Floyd can literally do no wrong in your eyes, you're so far up his arse you can't see your vagina from your elbow.

I favored Mayweather for the longest time and then I saw signs of sloppiness from Mayweather against Ortiz... I figured Pac would run over JMM at 140 but he wound up looking ridiculous pounding out a close and difficult decision win... Having seen that, I'd be crazy not to rethink my position... Even after the Ortiz fight, I figured Pac's chances were better than ever, I could definitely see him simply outworking Floyd, winning a close one... But Marquez slowed Pac's work rate, slowed his advance with many of the same basic tools Floyd would use only he would use them better... I think Floyd has slowed a great deal, but after seeing that JMM fight, I think he's got to be a huge favorite against Pac

nice try, though, I was never "SURE" (nor made any indication that I was 100% sure) about Pac's chances, just thought they were better than ever off of that Ortiz fight

Even though Floyd himself has slowed down quite a lot, I think I was in the minority in thinking he looked pretty sharp against Ortiz. Sure it was only Ortiz, but he did look sharp, didn't look rusty or anything, his reactions and timing were still excellent.

I wouldn't say that Manny's chances are very good.
I think that in his last couple of fights he has lost a step.
He also doesn't appear to be as hungry. Having said that, at any stage in his career I would consider him an underdog against Floyd. I have always said that in the ring, Floyd would be considerably bigger and stronger than Manny. That combined with Floyd's incredible skill would be too much to overcome. I thought that Manny could possibly win using superior workrate throwing “punches in bunches" and then getting out of range. In a sense overwhelming Floyd. Roy Jones did a similar thing to Bernard Hopkins in their 1st fight (I'm not saying that pac is like Jones or that Floyd is like Bernard). However after watching his last fight I don't think that he would pull that off if he showed the same hesitancy in the face of good counterpunching.
However I still think that Floyd has never been confident, at least prior to Manny's last fight that he could beat him.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel, only a couple of years I was more imagining that Manny WOULD overwhelm Floyd with activity, speed, footwork etc, zipping around, throwing lots of punches. I thought it would be very close, but I was swaying towards Pacman winning a close decision.

Especially given the recent Marquez fight, it's hard to imagine that happening now to be honest, though I wouldn't exactly be shocked if Pacquiao did manage to win this mythical match somehow.

Now I think when Floyd loses it's going to be unexpected. Despite people thinking pressure fighters are made to order for Floyd, it is pressure that has had the most success.

Obviously Castillo's intelligent pressure is the best example, but even small, basic pressure fighters like Chavez and Hernandez put up respectable showings against Floyd.

Floyd is going to either lose to a pressure fighter that can force an uncomfortable pace and not give Floyd room to work, OR a rangey, natural welterweight who can outjab him, and has enough pop to keep him overly cautious.
