According to fat Dan, this is in play for Feb.

On paper it would seem like Kirkland would beat the hell outta him. Afterall, Kirkland is alot stronger, quicker, and more powerful than Wolak.

But then again, Rodriguez if nothing else against Wolak showed that he's a good straight puncher. Pretty nice right hand, and uppercut.

    Thoughts?

as long as the money's right I don't have any issue with Rodriguez getting a good payday.

Yeah, after the two Wolak wars, Rodriguez deserves a payday. Shit, who knows...... maybe he'll pull the upset.

Too bad it's not Kirkland Wolak that would have been a war.

Is it just me, or is Rodriguez all wrong for James?

Rodriguez is a tall, angular guy, good straight puncher, good uppercut, very adequate fitness and work-rate.

    I think he could win.

DeGale fights at 168, Kirkland, 175. That's one weight class difference. I don't see DeGale ever moving up to 175.

Kirkland would beat Wolak within an inch of his life.

Irish...his name is RODRIGUEZ. He's a Latino despite looking like a white guy.

Wanted to clear this up before you threw your full support behind him.

Why does rodriguez hunch at times? It's odd, he's a tall fighter + he gets hit when he does hunch. If he was to do that against kirkland, that might prove to be a problem. He's better off not hunching and use his height to his advantage.

Yeah its a good point. If Rodriguez managed to win, it wouldnt be that big of an upset.

I COULD envision him sharp shooting Kirkland.

He did that on purpose to hold his ground, protect his body, and stay away from right hand. Rod had success by fighting inside to combat pressure - can't fight tall inside. Despite what Foreman says, fighting tall isn't always the best bet for a fighter (see Castillo/corrals).

Golden Boy was fishing. Rodriguez just fought last weekend. Who the hell returns from a fight like that to come back less than 10 weeks later? Dan tries way too hard at times.

Anyway, Kirkland is fighting Carlos Molina (the guy who beat Cintron this past summer) on January 28. Rodriguez won't be back until March or April and will most likely move towards an IBF title shot sometime next year.
