Foster had very quick hands, to my eyes... and TIMING, ridiculous timing

Roy was so damn athletic and he had power to go along with his leaping in and out when he decided to do it. Foster would stalk Roy and look to land that vaporizing right hand, but I see Roy as being too fast, not slick but fast!

What if Roy landed that body shot that he landed against Virgil Hill? What if he does the "Chicken wing" he did to so many others? It's not the skill, it's the overall athleticism that makes me take Roy in a 12 round fight. 13, 14, and 15 rounds are the championship rounds for a reason and I think that would make a difference in Foster's favor. But in 12, I'll take Roy.

I never saw Roy in there with anybody with a jab like Foster's, nor Foster's incredible length

Same could be said about everything Roy brings to the table though.

I don't see roy jones dealing well with that jab

I was responding to the raving of Jones' various attributes... Foster brings things to the table Jones never dealt with every bit as much

  12. Foster's combination of size, reach, power and boxing ability would give Jones serious trouble.

Jones, however, was so fast and elusive with decent pop of his own that it makes it an intriguing fight.

Pretty much my thoughts. It's tough either way, but I think Roy was a better fighter.

I'd pick Foster because he's is better. Great jab, excellent combinations; Jones never ever EVER beat any LHW anywhere near as good as Foster was.

Where did I say Foster dominates Jones? Must have missed that one.

Foster wins because he's less hippity hoppity.

That's true. I just think Foster was better, especially his jab, which was superb. Jones would have to rely on his freakish speed and IMO that wouldn't be enough.

yeah but he brought that long jab back to his waist...as soon as he missed a jab Roy counters over the top.

Roy's reflexes were unreal...I'm not sure how much success Foster has with a jab...he'd have to hope to catch Roy with a huge right hand. Outside of that I'm not sure if he doesn't catch a beating any worse than the one Richard Hall received.

Roy didn't have much success over Montel Griffin's low jab, in their first fight.

Unlike the right hand he threw over Griffin's jab to know him down?

Griffin was a counterpuncher. Foster was not. Roy threw his jab short to get Griffin to throw so he could counter off that.

    Apples and oranges.

If Supaman Roy was a natural LHW (not SMW) I'd pick him, but he isn't so I'm a bit confused

The change in weigh in rules should ease your confusion, if you let it.

Exactly. I also feel Jones peaked at SMW, but there is no real gap once you consider the weigh-ins.

How old was Roy when he peaked as SMW

Without checking BoxRec, think hed have been in his mid-to-late-20s. The fight with Toney was in 1994, at which time, Jones wouldve been 26.
