Nah, Rios is unproven at 140. Speak to me in 2, 3 fights time at 140. Needing 5 rounds more than Kevin Mitchell did to get rid of John Murray isn't good enough proof that Rios has what it takes yet. I know the weight issues etc..but this is John Murray.
All that aside, I'd be surprised if GB would make a Khan-Rios fight. Surely Oscar must know that his boy would get beat bad.
Oh and btw..... Khan's handspeed is OVERRATED. Ive been saying that shit forever! Berto has faster hands.
Hoya was simply a different level fighter to any of these 140 guys right now... He'd paste every one of them- Khan, Peterson, Bradley, Maidana... forget it, they'd all get the shit kicked out of them
Rios is too tough for Khan. Amir would have NOTHING to make Brandon respect him. Bam Bam would really just walk through his punches and hammer him to the body and head. He'd have a field day on Khan with uppercuts and hooks. Its a terrible style match up for Khan actually.
Yep. If Khan was a legit puncher it would be a different story, but he isn't. Rios would walk him down and beat the shit out of him. He'd hunt him down every second of every round.
I dont envision 140 being a problem for Rios. The guy really had NO business at 135. He's really a BIGGER MAN than Maidana. Mark my words. Rios would hunt Khan down, and send his head into the shaking hands of the roach.
I hear what Steve is saying about Rios, that once he loses his edge in strength, he won't be anywhere near as effective. That goes without saying, a bit like Hatton. Rios would be nothing at 147, but at 140? I see him being just as effective. He has the frame to suit 140 well, and I think he'll still be stronger than anyone there, with better stamina too.
I don't see Khan's people putting him in against Rios. If they're going to get an ass kicking it may as well be for the biggest possible money. Therefore Mayweather. Luckily for boxing fans Amir didn't get the decision otherwise that fight would probably be signed tonight.
Just a hunch. After tonight, however, I'd be foolish not to concede the possibility that Rios might just steamroll Khan.
:: Now Khan is getting the Hatton treatment. He's gone from being pfp yo #1 to the other side of the scale...now everyone beats him and brutally ::
Khan needs to pull a Commodus, and stab Floyd in the abdomen in his dressing room. That way he might have a 10% chance.
Hatton got his ass kicked by the two best fighters of this generation.' Khan has losses to Prescott, and Peterson.
The only reason he's been on any P4P lists is because it's a really weak time for boxing. Hatton earned his spot, Khan kind of just got there by default because there's a lot of fighters that suck even more.
Timothy Bradley as of now is the man at 140. And IMO he's always been the guy to beat at that weight. I never saw Khan beating him, but I guess with Khan's constant twitter threats, he convinced the boxing world that he would beat him. I'd give him a better chance against Bradley than I would Brandon Rios. I just think Rios would walk through him. Khan vs Guerrero is a pick em. Khan at 147 IMO will not be that strong. He'll still be fast. But his athleticism will not get him very far with the top guys at that weight. Considering how much punishment Khan takes, its probably a good idea he retires at 28. He's an exciting fighter but just not elite IMO. Too flawed. But he can be in some entertaining fights for sure.
As ugly as his style can be, the man fighting next week (Ward) is a light years better fighter than Con, and shoulda been ahead of him on P4P lists the entire time.

Utterly charmless and so are his fans. The spectre of old Giraffe-Necked Freddy in the background doesn't help.
Just finished the fight, haven't read the thread yet. Is it just me or did the HBO crew just turn in the worst announcing performance in history? It was like Golden Boy was putting dollar bills in their pockets as the fight was happening. :shit:
