Rios Vs Khan

Last night CLEARLY wasnt the same Rios that destroyed Peterson, Acosta, and Antillion.

Yet still.... even at less than 100%, he gave Murray a pretty brutal thrashing.

Rios is a terrific short puncher. One reason why I think he could beat Maidana in a toe to toe war.

As for Khan vs Rios..... I'm not sure how Rios would react to Khan's length and speed. Its possible he wouldnt react well. BUT.... I do know that if Rios could close the distance, and get inside of Khan..... Amir would be fucked. Rios is far more skilled offensively than Maidana.

If Khan fought Rios, Oscar would be imploring Roach "Freddie, have him watch the last 4 rounds of my fight with Trinidad. Then train him to do that for 12 rounds."

 

Rios is garbage too though. I wouldn't be surprised if a mere con outboxed Rios. Rios is a tv fighter. That is the only reason to like that stupid fucking cholo. He is fun to watch. He is getting the Corrales treatment. He is fun so people overrate him. He is garbage, but should be on every ppv undercard.

 

With that defense he has, I cannot see it.

Rios is too strong and too tough for him. He'd give Khan a brutal beating.

I'll bet money Rios beats Khan, even without seeing him at 140.

Khan's only chance would be an in pocket ref that would basically repremand Rios for fighting inside.

Rios would bulldoze his way inside and sodomise Khan. He is a MUCH better pressure fighter and infighter than Maidana and Peterdude.

 

I truly doubt that fight gets made anytime soon.

Khan will likely rematch Peterson either in England or Las Vegas and probably win a UD. Then he'll continue to waste time with safe title defenses waiting to cash out against a Mayweather or Pacquiao.

But seeing as how hard it is for GB and Top Rank to make fights together anyway, it sure as hell is gonna be even harder to make a fight with a guy that Oscar surely must know that Khan would lose to.

At least not if he's still serious about matching Khan vs Mayweather.

 

I agree, in fact I generally don't even pay attention to who promotes who, and keep forgetting about Top Rank/G etc, and that Khan is with G. So yeah, this fight won't even happen, which is annoying.

 

We don't know about Rios yet at 140. He was last seen at 150 struggling to deal with John Murray.

 

Rios is entertaining but not terribly good, and who knows how he'll be regularly weighing 140

 

Against other people who regularly weigh 140.

Rios is OK. But he showed some flaws vs Murray.

He's definitely not great. But as am sure you know, neither is Maidana and he had Khan out on his feet.

Rios at 140 will be fine IMO if he stays disciplined and doesn't let his weight get too out of control.

Hut and Cdogg are going too far. Hut thinks crappy ass Emanuel Burton would have beaten Khan, and Cdogg says Khan is no better than Angel Manfredy.

As if Manfredy would have beaten Kotelnik, Maidana, and Paulie.

 

Manfredy was a lightweight, not a Junior Welterweight... None of those guys is any better than Arturo friggin' Gatti

 

I would have loved to see Gatti go at it at 135 and then 140 with Khan.

Khan might get out of jail over 12 with Ward. Might.

 

christ, at least Manfredy could box a bit and fight on the inside, he wasn't horrible, certainly there's nothing to suggest Khan is any better... why? because Khan is more famous?

Khan would clearly outbox BOTH Gatti and Ward. Neither one of those punching bags could deal with any type of speed.

Lamont Peterson is CONSIDERABLY better than Gatti, and Ward.
