The point deduction in the 12th, the ref says stop then moves in...Khan looks at the ref then back at Peterson then lets an uppercut fly. I didn't have issue with the point deductions. Khan clearly pushed Peterson off multiple times. Even in the 6th round you hear the ref telling Khan to not push off. This notion of telling Khan a point will be deducted the next time...I'm not sure if that's an actual rule but let's say the ref should have specifically stated that... What's Khan's excuse for continuing to do it every round until the deduction in the 12th? He can't scream he didn't know he shouldn't do it. As far as I'm concerned the non-knockdown of Peterson in the first wipes out one of the point deductions which makes the fight a draw. Fuck Khan. I'm happy he lost.
Khan is Obama, y'all haters. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/97-YIZOH9ZU?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/97-YIZOH9ZU?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

Good point. Hell, if the ref doesn't take the point for blatantly grabbing Petersen's head with his gloves and pushing off, he should have taken a point for hitting on the break. It wasn't even like Mayweather when the referee had already told them to box. It was during the actual break.
I didn't think either of the 'knock downs' in the first should have stood. I think the ref cut Khan a break on the second one since he'd been involved in the tangle which led to the first. Between that and repeatedly warning Lamont for Khan pushing his head down I felt the ref gave Khan a very fair shake.
Khan finished the 2nd "Knockdown" with an forearm shove, but he probably started it on clean punching. It wasn't really a knockdown, more of Peterson trying to "go somewhere" and Khan saying...."Go here" via his forearm.
I've never seen an American commentary team take such an interest in how the non-American fighter was being so badly-treated. Lamprey distinguished himself in this regard, especially in the 8th where he tried to make out that a Peterson blow {which was borderline-low} was the sole cause of Khan being hurt, when in fact Peterson had been working him all the round. That same round Khan got Peterson in a cute headlock and looked at the referee, who asked him to let go, as Lamprey babbled on about the ref not cutting Khan a break and the Merchant of Menace babbled on about Hilary Clinton. Max was making grunting noises I didn't get what he said.
Pathetic. So fucking eager to talk up "Home Cooking" when Golden Boy had their hand down their pants, but fuck all to say when Bernard was dropping the nut in on Joe or Ricky was having a point taken off for no reason at all and with no warning by Joe Cortez. It's pathetic. Just listen to this shit. And please, take time to enjoy the state of the Khan-Golden Boy camp when the point comes off for the shove/hitting on the break. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XzVhNk2iD1A?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XzVhNk2iD1A?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> Minute the 12th round ends, HBO cut to the two-knockdowns and the two-points coming off, so as not to waste any time making their impression. THEN.....that FUCKWIT, Lederman, a guy wanted points taken off Wlad left-and-right in the Peter/Byrd fights, jumps in and says that the referee had the "Audacity to take off two points for the same offence" Well, not quite, shithead, he took off two points for repeat infractions of the same offence, one of which included an uppercut on the break, with a miscellany of head-locks, shoving and elbows inbetween. Where was this turd when Wayne Kelly was having the AUDACITY to take multiple points off Golota for the "same offence" in the Bowe fight? Where was this floater when Joe Cortez was having the AUDACITY to take a point off Ricky Hatton for NO OFFENCE in the Khan fight. It does make you wonder just how far Oscars hand is down their pants.
also...Lampley wanted to establish a point that the ref was wrong for taking the first point until Max stepped in and pointed out what Khan did was against the rules and also had been warned many times. Then Lampley goes the route of complaining about how the ref took the point. It was clear Khan was pushing off. Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong but Lampley called Mayweather vs Castillo when Floyd lost a point for the exact same infraction....and yet...last night Lampley acted as though he'd never encountered a ref who took away a point for that infraction. It was a good fight...classic case where Lampley wanted to create controversy.
Khan's ridiculous style and flaws combined with his speedy, flashy shoeshining all but guarantee fun fights... Maidana was fun, this was fun... I hope to see more of these whacky, entertaining bouts
The main problem with Khan is he doesn't know a damn thing about defense. His idea of defense is covering up. He doesn't parry, doesn't slip punches he's 100% offense and when he's not punching he only knows two things: cover up run away I can guarantee this much...we'll see him take one or two bad ass kickings then he'll stop fighting. I get the sense the guy wants to be a star more than a fighter. His career will wind down much like Hamed's or Acelino Freitas.
How about somebody who can fight? :dunno: How about a bit of "artistic execution"??? <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kPmE5AKpU90?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kPmE5AKpU90?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> Instead we have "hey, wasn't that controversial, be sure to tune in for the conclusion of this controversy next March, and have your credit card details ready"....:shit:
Yeah, I get the same feeling. Khan is gonna get WRECKED pretty soon. He's taking way too much punishment for a 24-25 year old. His groupies wrote off the Prescott loss as a fluke, then they wrote off his struggle with Maidana for "He's still improving". Now its a year later, and he's STILL the same damn fighter he was in the Maidana fight. I think at this point, even most his groupies realize that he's not that good.
HBO's been trying to hype Khan up as their newest Golden Boy. Their commentary during the Maidana fight (mainly Lamprey) was annoyingly biased. He was all over Khan's nuts.
As we speak Khan would be getting lessons on how to properly fight from the outside from Vernon Forrest, and lessons on how to in-fight from Corrales, if he fought that version of Tszyu.
They really were pretty fucking bad. :: Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy starting to make me miss Don King. At least with King, you knew what you were getting and he put on decent undercards.
Goddamn. That clip of Kostya makes me remember how much I loved his style.I know he wasn't the greatest but he is one of my favorite fighters ever.
No he wasn't, he was a disgusting, overrated, greasy faced, rat tailed little Mongoloid. http://youtu.be/xpPA2u1iLNE
:: :: I agree, the ironic thing is I too find his fights pretty fun to watch. I hope to see him matched up with more guys who'll attack him and force a fight, and see him skating and flailing around the ring, landing volleys of boxbot auto combos, and then getting bludgeoned up close etc.
