Hut, the blue print was drawn YEARS ago mate. By a tinker born on the back-seat of a car in Longford.

Ray Oliviera would not beat Khan, this is getting ridiculous.

Khan is not that bad of a fighter, he has great handspeed, good power, decent accuracy and pretty good stamina. Also, he has beaten a few good fighters (Barerra, Maidanan, Kotelnik, Judah), let's not get overcarried.

    He still

    Pathetic isn't it?

During the fight, I thought the call in the last round was a bit dubious, and I think sometimes I'm swayed merely by a ref being a "hometown" ref, ie you're inclined to believe they're playing the hometown ref.

But this wasn't the case at all with Cooper, he enforced the rules, he wasn't an in pocket ref. He also warned Khan a lot.

The idea of having him investigated beggers belief. Oscar is a tool.

It's embarrassing to be such a bad loser.

Why not? He's very active, he likes to get close and let his hands go... why couldn't he? Because during his time he was only the 13th best Junior Welterweight? Khan's beaten down to FNF status in Oliveira's time, and it wasn't even that good of a time... Oliveira can come forward, slip punches and let his hands go, he's got a great chin, seems more than enough to me

I've never really taken too much notice of it before, but Khan even back then was pushing, holding the head, pushing the head down. Exactly the same as last night + the running away when in trouble.

He doesn't have good power, in fact he doesn't even throw power shots. They are basically fast arm punches, some of them sting through sheer velocity.

He is a mindless boxbot with great handspeed.

I can't believe you mention Barrera, I mean really? A shell of Barrera at lightweight?

I see no reason Ray Oliveira couldn't beat Khan, none whatsoever

Khan needs to work more on timing his shots, rather than just throwing his arms out there in hope.

Just to clarify, as big a Khan fan as I am, I had no issues with the decision or the points deductions. I thought they were fair and the referee done a good job.

    Regards,

    That's good form.

I only feel I have been vindicated as to the fact that, from the time of the Gomez fight, I felt his number was pretty evident, if Superman fears Kryptonite, then Khan fears inside fighters who can bustle past his hustle and close the gap.

He's proven that repeatedly, even in fights which he has won, a la Maidana and Gomez, Limond even.

He's a sneaky bastard with no real charm about him and the backing of some pretty disreputable people who will stop at nothing to get secure their own aims. Don King was better than them.

    Good man, Slice.

Khan's the kinda guy who can and will dominate good fighters who dont have the style to exploit his weaknesses, he'll probably come back from this to surprise people if he's matched right.

Yeah The shell of barerra who according to many beat Marquez 2 years before, and gave a much better performance against pacquiao than in his first fight (well, it's arguable since he didn't really tried to win) a year and a half before.

how but I forgot, he was made to move a big 5 pounds up, wich made him completely innefective as a fighter

Khan's beef is with the judges scoring, after one judge had initially awarded round seven to Khan, only to alter his decision to 10-8, Peterson. Khan also wants to know why it took so long to get the fight verdict announced, (Buffer even read out an incorrect score and the method of victory wrong).

Must admit I'm surprised you and Jimmy have no problem with this decision and have a problem with the Groves fight.

I feel that Groves won his fight more clearly. I thought Peterson edged this, but it could have gone either way.

You two must really hate Groves

    Alright, now THATS going overboard.

Augustus was a fuckin journeyman. A feather-fisted journeyman at that.

Peterson is a higher calibre fighter than Augustus.

Khan would have beaten Augustus with much room to spare.

Malignaggi would beat Augustus with much room to spare.

Barrera is a natural 122/126 pounder and the most recent time he beat a good fighter was, well I don't even know, it depends if you consider Rocky Juarez and Robbie Peden to be good fighters. Those fights were in 2005/2006. Since then he's beaten no one, just some random scrubs including someone who has only 1 professional win

That fight is meaningless. Show me a solid win Barrera has at 135, then we'll give Khan some credit for the win.

The thing about Groves was that he fought and tried and kept it clean. Groves is also an independent sort of guy, he works with Adam Booth, and was working with him alone at the time of the fight. Groves lacked the backing of a big promoter and remained calm and dignified throughout. Maybe he won, maybe he didn't, that's not the issue.

For Khan-Fans though, it must have been an embarrassment, if I was Shah Khan I would reconsider the entire arrangement in America, but of course, money is their main option and Oscar has them believing that he and he alone can get them the sums they want.

Khan still has a bright future amongst the general mainstream, concise wordsmithing will mitigate the losses to Prescott and Peterson, and Floyd/Pac/Marquez aren't getting any younger either. Rios remains untested at the weight, Ortiz is at 147 and is a tard in any case.

So far as boxing purists are concerned, he's a limited guy who truly is lucky to have avoided a rich vein of talent at 140 and to have found himself in a prime position to cash in on the "Acceptable Muslim Hero" element following the suicide bombings in London in July of 2005, 1 year after the Olympics.

Yep. Barrera was badly cut early in that fight, through no fault of his own, and they let it go 4 rounds, gave Amira the TD win, and then told Barrera to piss off. Khan was on tele the next day talking about beating legends. Legends of 122. From 1999. It seems.

Peterson fought like a man, credit where credit is due. In fact, Khan reminded me of Groves, running away whenever a fight threatened to break out. I'm still a fan, he makes for good fights, but he was a let down last night.

PS - Chunky beat Groves :fightme:

Augustus might lose, but only after bloodying Khans nose and making him miss with every shot he loaded up on. That fight would finish with Khan gasping for air and swinging and missing. Augustus would be sweating off the last of the Summer gange and thats the only reason he wouldn't take advantage.

Matthew Macklin is a clubfighter, he's not a marquee fighter by any means. Though if he were the only white fighter in the world, I'm sure you'd have him beating Hagler in MMs. The fact that you don't love every white fighter there is does not logically exclude you being prejudiced toward European fighters and heavily prejudiced against fighters of other backgrounds. Further, you've established your racist, troglodyte bonafides in numerous discussions only tangentially or not at all related to boxing.

Aside from that, on my end, I've been more critical of Khan than not on many occasions - including the Peterson fight. If he was Paddy Duff and a marquee world-renowned fighter, I certainly would have something to say about him. The difference between you and I is that I wouldn't be bigoted toward him due to his cultural/racial background.

If you really think that's not the logical conclusion to draw based on your inane comments here as well as your general faggotry, your head needs examining.

I don't really care about the wankfest around him.

I want to be a fan of Khan's. He's Pakistani and seems like a decent enough kid, if a bit immature (understandable at his age). Unfortunately, he fails to impress in the ring (basically, the exact opposite of Floyd Mayweather Jr).

He BADLY needs to get a new trainer. Roach isn't doing shit for him. The fact that the kid is so lost on the inside speaks volumes about what an overrated, crap trainer Roach is.

it's not Roach. it can't be Roach's fault when he's clearly one of the most respected trainers out there. Khan's head is not in the sport itself. Remember he's a spoiled star from the UK that came over to the states to grow as an athlete. Problem is, he's STILL that spoiled star. Appearing on TV and shit like that has him thinking in stardom and trying to impress everybody instead of doing what he has to do to win a fight.

What exactly has Roach ever done as a trainer? Manny Pac was the same fighter when he got him, and basically stayed the same until the Marquez/Morales fights forced him to have to teach Manny how to throw a right hook. James Toney learned nothing from Roach. Khan has supposedly "improved," but I don't see how.. he's a little more careful, but he still looks like a fucking amateur to me.

A guy like Manny Steward would be much better for Khan than Roach, imo..

No, no, no, you've yet to properly understand Irish, mate. Irish doesn't care about anything as bromidic as reality. Black, white, American, European, war, peace, right, left - just the white light which the media might refract into something worth looking at. If it isn't at least twice processed it's unrefined crude unfit to burn.
