At their respective weights, who have the better resumé? Jones has the better names, Silva the longevity. It won't be long before Jones is considered one of the best of all time. He's just too loaded with advantages and skill. I see him making some noise at heavyweight in a not so distant future.
jones's resume in 2011 alone is by far the most impressive year anyone's ever had in the history of mma in my opinion. he seems unbeatable. he's going to destory henderson and the winner of davis/evans. after that he should definitely move up to heavyweight.
Don't count on it. Henderson has found a knack over the last couple years of landing that right hand on anyone he fights. And typically landing it results in his opponent being badly hurt. And Henderson is absolutely fearless. My problem is pace. It doesn't seem like it when you watch Jones fight, but he is constantly pressuring. Because of his range, you can never rest against him. He wears guys down just by being in front of them. So either Henderson pops Jones early or Dan gets stopped late primarily due fatigue. Personally I am more interested in Hendo-Jones than Evans-Jones. Henderson brings the best fight ending power in the division and a Greco-Roman background that should almost nuetralize Jones. Don't sleep on the old man.
I wish hendo moved up to heavy. No way in hell he is competative against Jones or Silva due to his age and stamina issues.
Weight drained at a buck eighty five. Henderson has no business cutting to 185 now. I know Dana is trying to sell him as a contender at 205 or 185 but he needs 2 more fights at 205 and then retirement. I want a rematch with Rampage and then a Jones shot. Then call it a day. Let's be honest, Henderson was the Strikeforce 205 champion and then came back to the UFC to beat possibly the second best guy in the division. He deserves a Jones fight know matter how overmatched.
All I know is that Jake Shields made GSP cry and want to quit. You think it's a coincidence that GSP hasn't fought since? Hmmmm, think about it.
There was no eye poke either, all damage was caused by punches. I was just messing with you though, I like Jake Shields and Hendo. Hendo has never looked worse than he did in that fight. He's looked great since. He should never ever fight at 185 again.
There is no doubt Jones is the FIGHTER of the year, with wins over Machida, Shogun, I forget the winner of TUF, Bainer? I think Jones has the tools to overcome ADVERSITY when he is in deep waters just as Anderson did against EPD Sonnen. There is a better opportunity for present and future FIGHTERS with the better development of MMA where hopefully the best matchups will be made and the opponents even better known. Build on the foundation that GRACIE built, Followed by Anderson and Wanderlei Silva, Couture, Chuck, Hughes, BJ Penn, Henderson, CroCop, Belfort and Fedor.
Absolutely. Tito was dominating with his ground and pound way way back. Also Bas Rutten, Sakarama(butchered the spelling). Overeem was a good FIGHTER but nothing special in the past.
henderon's not landing that right hand imo. it's not like he's a better striker than rampage is although he could be a bit more reckless and aggressive at times. i think jones picks him apart rather easily and subs him.
At this stage Henderson can still pull the trigger on his right hand but Rampage absolutely cannot. Huge difference. All I'm saying is that with Henderson's chin, if Jones keeps it standing, the H-Bomb could land.
I hate Mauro for shaving his head, just plain wierd looking. I would love to see Hendo rematch Rampage next. That is a fight Dana really should make.
But come on, Mauro is SO proud of coining that phrase. ......and yes, I felt like a cornball just typing it. Your outrage is justified.
