Nevertheless, I would add that back in 2003, many of the good, lighter fighters weren't exclusively Pride or UFC.

Guys like Hansen, Ribiero, Kawajiri, Gomi, etc weren't Pride or UFC fighters really.

But in terms of guys considered Pride or UFC fighters in 2003, I would take Penn, Sherk, Hughes, Uno, Edwards, etc over anything Pride had to offer.

 

Henderson would never make 170. Pride weight classes were different. WW was up to 183.

 

So then you would have to match Hendo with a UFC MW, not a WW.

 

What ever fits your argument.

Yeah, I know the Pride weight limits. But you were talking about "SMALLER" fighters. 183 pounds isn't small. And the idea of lumping Henderson in with Hughes is crazy. Despite the weight range, they aren't comparable.

Also, if you start talking 183, which is basically the UFC MW limit, it brings a slew of good fighters into the mix including Anderson Silva who was essentially a Pride guy back in 2003.

Let's throw BJ Penn in there with Rampage or Wandy too while we're at it.
