By Irish's criteria Messi & Ronaldo are probably better still

For Irish's response, I'll give him '58 and at a stretch, '62. Football was in development after the strides made by the Hungarians in '54 and the world was catching up, but by 1970 I don't think you can use that any more. There were great players playing great football in that World Cup and he was the shining star of the best national team of all time (fuck Spain). Maradona was great and pretty much won the world cup by himself, but I think as an all-rounder Pele had it all. Maradona wasn't exceptional in the air plus he relied too much on one foot. It is very close though.

    That's just the point though.

Messi and Ronaldo are mere charlatans in comparison to either.

For me, Maradona's achievement in Italy with Napoli alone pushes him ahead of Pele.

It would have been interesting to see Pele in a competitive European Club context.

Suarez vs Evra hearing has begun, 9 weeks after the alleged "incident".

I agree it was a remarkable achievement, but I think it is slightly overblown as Napoli were always on the cusp of achieving the scudetto in previous years without being able to cross the line, he was the missing piece to get them over. Alot like Parma in the early to mid 90's, they were about one player away from winning Serie A but couldn't quite get it. Taking that success into European competition was a great achievement though.

It's a shame Pele didn't play in Europe but I don't think he would have been found wanting.

Maradonna was better than Pele. Pele was a great, great player in a great, great Brazil side that deservedly won the World Cup. Maradonna was a great, great player in an otherwise average Argentina side that won the World Cup because of him. That's the difference.

Celtic win away from home in Europe, never mind against a team who are actually good? I'll roll naked in the snow until my pecker disappears inside me.

 Just thought I'd check. Draw?

That doesn't help Celtic of course.... they need to win today. Not sure if Udinese even knows how to play for a draw?

    Good.

When is our game against Spain?

    Lovely.

What you make of this Suarez thing? We hear fuck all for months and all of a sudden tomorrow is decision day?

I have a feeling he will be fucked over by the powers-that-be, who have now backed themselves into an impossible situation- if they convict Suarez, they smear Dalglish and JW Henry with him, both of who have vouched for him, but if they don't, they miss out on their precious chance to stick it to Blatter.

I'm convinced we're the best team in the group - whenever we go out and play we have our way with these teams. The problem is the players don't believe it. We'll blow it.....we'll start sitting deeper and deeper, it'll be like the mystical law of attraction, we'll manifest defeat. That's the Celtic way, away from home we've set a voodoo curse on ourselves

Im barely even watching this shit, I've been here 40 times before I've read the script

    See?

Didn't react to either goal. Just the same old boring script. 'Defensive error by Celtic, blah blah blah'. Law of expectations is like cast iron.
