It's a powerful league. In fairness, they got Citeh and United in there too. 5 English sides left in Europe...they could do the double now.ray:
Ahh that's right, yep, forgot about the Evil Rangers making the final. Boy, their team got torn apart worse than Manchester that night.
yes but in hindsight they outdid themselves..........2-1 is not bad, once E'To scored I feared for 10 man Arsenal.
Was so hoping your boys would do it, so friggin close as well. It would have been yours if Henry had put away at least one of those two clear cut chances
They would have won for sure with 11 men, Arsenal were on Barca's level back then. Even if they weren't, they were not far behind.
It's a game I find hard to feel sorry for Arsenal in, they were torn apart by an incisive move which saw Jens Lehmann get sent off, worst case scenario was that Lehmann was sent off and the goal stood, best case scenario was he stayed on the field and the goal stood. Middle case scenario was that he was sent off and the goal did not stand, which is what they got. Then Henry threw himself on the ground for a free kick that Sol "My Mind Is Weak" Campbell scored with a header from. Then Titty missed all those chances. I think Barcelona, much like against United and Chelsea in years to come, kept playing their football. Of course, it took a proper side to discipline them the following year. ray: <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_dpgwceq2jU?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_dpgwceq2jU?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object> <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_ysCXs2Xa8?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r_ysCXs2Xa8?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
I remember thinking your lot could do it against Barca, there's something about Liverpool on european nights.
Sausage Dinners post-match interview was magic. The fact that they trashed Manchester afterwards was an added bonus.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...rish-fans-trial-jibes-Spurs-crash-Europe.html Harry Redknapp has clashed with Irish fans making inflammatory chants about his forthcoming trial. The Tottenham manager is understood to have responded with a clenched-fist gesture after being goaded by Shamrock Rovers supporters in Dublin. Tottenham went out of the Europa League despite winning their final group game 4-0. But the clash was marred by several instances of chants taunting Redknapp over his pending court appearance. Redknapp is believed to have snapped midway through the second half, making an angry gesture at the home fans. When asked if had made an obscene gesture towards the Rovers fans, the Spurs boss tried his best to play down the row. 'Not really. Did I make an "obscene" gesture? No, I didn't make... No.' He added: 'I have spent enough time in Ireland to know what lovely people they are. ***************** I swear it wasn't me. ::
I refer you all to my previous rants about the disgusting English attitude to the UEFA Cup and the paucity of talent below the ever decreasing handful of 'big' clubs. Put simply: the EPL and SPL are absolute shite. MTF
When was the last time no British team made in through to the last eight of the European Cup? Arsenal (Milan) and Chelsea (Napoli) have tough tasks here IMO. MTF
God, could you imagine that????? The Scum AND the Evil Rangers being kings of Europe?? It would be the definitive proof that there is no God
Might have been the year Inter won it? I remember they beat the scum in the second round, and United went out to Bayern in the round of 16 as well. I'm pretty sure Barca crushed Arsenal that round as well because I remember El Terriblee slaughtering me on here when Messi scored 4.
United went out to Bayern in the quarters. United have had 3 really easy easy draws in the ECL over the last 3 years. I hear that this has continued today with Ajax. Oh wait..... :: More importantly is how Suarez gets on today...I notice you all have said very little on this ::
Just in time for a Xmas ban.... Dalglish made a smart move last week when he spoke about Rooney and his 3 game ban the next day every manager in the league backed him up..this may count in our favour... Evra is a little cunt, every knows it.. BTW what the hell is going on with the John Terry case..
The XMAS ban might backfire on them.....Liverpool can buy new in January. More interesting to me is the actual timing of the final announcement- right smack bang on prime-time on a Friday evening. I think he'll be found guilty but I don't believe he is guilty. Evra is a complete shit- in my opinion he suffers from insecurity, he's a desperately self-conscious little man, which is basically what Suarez {who towers over him} called him. We all know he is lying, he said that a Chelsea groundsman had called him "a fucking immigrant", an allegation which an FA investigation found to be wholly unreliable. He was also a key player int the debacle of Paris and the subsequent "strike" at South Africa 2010. Terry's case is a Police Matter...the Suarez thing is a matter of interpretation as to matters lingusitic/cultural. Apparently one member of the 3 man panel hearing this is a pal of both Alex and Darren Fergusons. There's impartiality for you. Dalglish making the point he did about the Rooney ban was a clear example of the mistake the FA made in letting it run on as far as they did. In the intervening period there was the spat with FIFA {entirely manufactured} and the Rooney thing. This meant that the Suarez decision took on a new dynamic. That's the FA's fault, nobody elses. My own suspicion is that the safe, easy option to find Suarez "guilty", thus thumbing their nose at FIFA, will be too tempting to turn down.
