Khan vs Peterson: Round by Round

Ringside last night was just fucking annoying!

Khan was guest and you had both Woodhall & McCrory sucking Khan's dick.

 

You talk about punching power the entire post and then cop out at the bottom about punching harder =/= punching better? wtf?

The standard line for the Ruelas brothers was that Gabe was the better boxer and Rafael was the better puncher. Better puncher, as always, means harder puncher. There's no need to clarify that.

Whether or not Rafael actually punched harder than Gabe is perhaps debatable, but it sure isn't ridiculous to claim that it was Rafael. That's what EVERYONE thought while they were contenders. And it is what their records strongly, strongly suggest. Gabe's ko ratio was less than 50%; Rafael's was over 80%. I know some on this site hate objective facts, but jeepers fuck.

 

Stupid. I knew McCrory wanted to have babies with Khan but I didn't know Woodhall was in on the act too. It's ridiculous, because its obvious how these things work. Bunce never mentioned it on his show today on the BBC, and he gave it scant mention on his boxing hour on Boxnation. So the modus is clear, if it isn't "our" fighter, it didn't happen, and if it is our fighter, we'll never shut the fuck up about it.

When Haye lost to Wlad, the Guardian did ONE article at it, and that was aimed at Dan Rafael.

When Khan lost to Peterson, they got up to 6 articles. All of which had the same shite. The comments section got closed in a hurry once it became apparent that the preponderance of commentary was anti-Khan. Once the youtube vidz appeared of Khan doing the breaststroke in the middle of the ring, that was it, curtains. Comments section closed down.:wack:

I can't sleep. I'm off to watch Khan vs Kotelnik and Wlad vs Chambers 1-11.

Did you read his post? He was the one who said punch better. I responded to it. If I fought you 100 times, I would have a 100% KO percentage. That doesn't mean I have devastating power; it means you're a pussy. Rafael fought a lot of guys who had NO wins. What part of that was difficult for you to understand?

Everyone knows that 'punch better' means 'punch harder'. It's not some semantic mystery that needs clarification by Sherlock Rydell.

I'm glad that you understand that numbers don't always tell the whole story. Now that you've clarified that Gabe must have been the harder puncher because he knocked down Leija and hurt Gatti I'm sure you've convinced the entire board of your position. That information wasn't available during their careers when everyone thought Rafael punched harder.

 

Wrong again. Gabe punched better because he had better technique. I didn't say he was definitively the harder puncher. In fact, I said Rafael may have been the harder puncher. Do you get your drugs at the same place as Trouble Mel? Gabe Ruelas' punches were crisp and delivered from a good technical stance with good balance. Rafael threw awkward sloppy punches like he was on rollerskates at times.

Rafael's KO rate was much higher because he was fighting guys with winless records when he had 30+ pro fights. Who do you think is going to win? A guy who is 31-1, or a guy who is 0-3? Think hard on that one, and take your time because it's clear you need it.

Alright, I'll simmer down because I did get drawn off track of the original post, which does happen when one reads Double L's posts. Rafael could NOT crack like a MF though. Anybody can look like a powerpuncher when they fight hopelessly overmatched opposition. As for what I said, I meant it exactly the way it reads. Rafael didn't punch better, and I'd be surprised if he punched harder. His KO percentage is hugely misleading.
