I can't put Wlad ahead of Ward because quite frankly, there's no fighters he's really beat that are worth a damn in the heavyweight division. To be honest, I wouldn't call the likes of Froch, Kessler, or Abraham great fighters but they're better than the likes of Haye, Peter, and Chambers. Ward is not a big puncher I agree. Probably never will be. But his all around game is more complete than Wladimir's and he's fought better fighters IMO.
Sad. Just sad. Are you saying you had Carl Froch at #4 pfp then??? Where was David Haye in your pfp rankings??
I already had Ward as top 5 P4P prior to tonight. This win, IMO, pushes him to #3. Where do you have Ward P4P? Cause he's 5 at the ABSOLUTE lowest.
I'm no fan of Martinez, but his career body of work is better than Wards. Ward basically has a win over Froch. That is it. Maybe Kessler. He beat guys who had been beaten before.
here's the problem with the analogy...guys complaining about the two points Khan lost (which would have given him a win by one point) fail to consider if khan keeps those points Peterson should also get the point for the no-knockdown back...which makes the fight a draw. Can you honestly say giving froch an additional round...let's say if one of the judges who had it 115-113 swapped and gave Froch a round...can you honestly say that a draw in tonights fight would have felt like the right decision?
the guy who beat Tarver was smaller, older and had been fighting pro for 7 years longer Tarver turned pro at 29 Marlon Starling turned pro at 20... Using biological age is ridiculous in boxing for this very reason Pipino Cuevas was shot to hell by the time he was 22... Wilfred Benitez was done by 25 Archie Moore was just hitting his stride at 35
See this is the magic of Bernard Hopkins,.. Taylor, just like Ward,.. easily won the first 8 rounds against Hopkins,..so how ever did people scream ROBBED!!!! :Wah:?
There wasnt a damn thing close about this fight. Ward won 8-4, 9-3 just as I (and many others) predicted before hand. Shame Ward faded down the stretch though. If he had been able to keep his foot on the gas, I honestly think he would have stopped Froch.
So Andre Ward was pfp#5 with big wins over Mikkel Kessler {TD10 or something} W12 Arthur Abraham {lost to Froch, lost to Dirrell} and W12 Allan Green. Is that what you are saying?? I don't want to pick this up wrong.....
Yes, but, he wasn't able to keep his foot on the gas...because.....Froch was making it a close fight....you may have noticed this. Did he just get tired of hitting Froch? Backed off on humanitarian grounds? Got threatening looks from Frochs missus? Forgot how to drive? Foot slipped on the pedal? Saw the cops at ringside and was afraid of being stopped for DWB? Which?
Oh. No paper trail. Neat. Don't fret though, I'm all over Explosive with his "Already had him at #5" mullarky, so you can slide on out of class, maybe I'll get you next week.
if ward and martinez was going to fight each other i would pick martinez in a heartbeat. he can fight on the inaide and has the offensive skills on the outside to give ward hell.
Froch came on late, but still not enough to make it a "close" fight. 8-4 isnt close. Theres NO WAY IN HELL Froch won more than 4 rounds.
You rated Haye rated above Froch? :: The numbers aren't important. Kessler and Froch were obviously better fighters than anyone Wlad or Vitali has ever defeated. Deal with it.
It's been a shit year for british fighters and Froch was their last hope. They've gone zero for all major fights.
BULLSHIT Jones looked like a shell of himself before the first punch was thrown in the FIRST fight... he looked 'off' during the introductions, never mind the fight where he had clearly slowed down a lot and lost a lot of his snap on his punches... Dozens of us here noticed that exact thing THe second fight, he came out looking the exact same way... he was absolutely ready to be taken who else did Tarver ruin during this reign of terror that you have substituted in place of his actual career? Eric "I never beat anybody ever" Harding? We aren't talking about Bob Foster, we are talking about Antonio "Milkdud" Tarver
Nah a draw would have been unfair on Ward, for sure. But 118-110 is unfair on Froch. Just let me be clear, I agree with 7-5, maybe 8-4, but it was close in that there wasn't a whole load in the rounds.Froch never got lit up like Kessler did, he never got his head slapped off or was forced into unmitigated running. IN fact, I would say AA hurt him more with that big right in the 12th of their fight in Helsinki than Ward did with any single shot in this fight. Froch was always in it, always getting something done or looking to get something done. He must have been doing something right, because Ward got tired and faded, something we never saw before. That must have come about because of something Froch did- be it pressure, body shots, or just refusing to go away. EDIT: The point I am making is that a guy can win 8 rounds straight in a close fight. Joe Frazier might have been 7-0 up when his fight with Quarry was stopped, but does that mean it was close?
AMERICA, AMERICA and germany too, AMERICA, AMERICA I reckon the Dollar rose 0.000000000001 cents against the Pound just on Wards showing alone. GO TEAM!!!
