There were maybe 3 or 4 clear rounds.Ihad it 115-113.Froch landed some monster body shots. No real opinion has Ward losing or drawing. He won by 1 to 2 rounds
1 or 2 rounds :atu: ridiculous. ward won by several rounds, despite fading. him not grappling as much seemed to be due to smoger allowing the fighters to work out of clinches.
2 judges had it 115-113 as I did. Neil you have to know that when you see black cock, you can't help but suck. Consider the source. I count body punches. Froch raked Ward's body. Ward won clearly. It just wasn't the blowout that Neil "The blackcocksucker" Spermstein thinks it was.
Froch won rounds 4 rounds TOPS. AND..... the 4 rounds he won were pretty close. Every round Ward won, he won going away.
Apparently A mere trash Con is on twitter basically wondering why people criticized his "footwork" but not Ward's. LOL. This little turd is a joke. Well A mere...... maybe because Ward has actual FOOTWORK and skill, and all you have is running and flashy handspeed. I officially hate Khan. I'm not a fan of Timmy the head at all, but if they ever fight, I now pray Tim beats the living shit outta him. What a fuckin cry baby. He shouldnt even bother comparing himself to Ward. Andre is a few MILES better than trash-Khan.
Ward won his rounds big while Froch edged his, which gave an impression of blowout. Rounds that could have been Froch's were 3, 5, 9 and 12, rounds 1 and 11 were close. After six, it could have been 59-55 or 58-57 (which the British reporter had) for Ward. So yes, Ward was the clear winner but in the scorecards it was not a one-sided fight. Froch wasn't at his sharpest but he made a respectable effort
Its funny, the only two times Ive heard Froch "wasnt at his sharpest" was against Kessler and Ward.:laughing::laughing: It was the same ole Froch tonight as every damn Froch. Ward is just a better techncian/fighter than Taylor, Dirrell, 90 yr old Johnson, and AA.
I am not making excuses :laughing: Nor I think there was anything wrong with him against Kessler:laughing: I just think he looked tense there tonight:laughing: Not that it mattered:laughing::laughing:
I dont think he looked tense. He just had no answer for Ward's speed. He looked equally clueless against Dirrell. But Dirrell has nowhere near the toughness/brain/in-fighting ability of Ward. Froch can always do well against guys who have comparable speed to himself.
Except for making the same accusation against SKY, I absolutely agree. At least someone else around here seems to have watched the same fight I did. MTF
Pretty much the expected result yesterday. Ward too good, but Frock gives a decent account of himself and fights bravely. I despise Ward's horrible dirty style, and his vile, pseudo Christian, preachy personality, but like Hut Hut I've been a believer since the Kessler fight. He can clearly fight, and annoying thing is, he has plenty enough skills and talent to NOT need to fight dirty, as even in this fight he was far less dirty than usual. As much hate as Joe gets, I would be fairly confident in picking a prime Calzaghe over Ward. Joe's combination of speed, adaptability, footwork, chin, and stamina is very, very hard to defeat. I know I joke about Pacquiao being shot, but the truth is even today's Pacquiao is a better fighter than Ward. So is Nonito, so is Floyd, but maybe not Martinez. Ward is a deserving 3rd or 4th place on the P4P list because unfortunately I think Nonito is somewhat of a bitch. The guy is ridiculously good, but if he really is fighting Arce, and fighting Arce straight after another gimme against a mid 30's flyweight, then that's just pathetic.
This round by round recap doesn't give Froch a round until the 9th. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/bo...rd-beats-Carl-Froch-lift-Super-Six-title.html
He looked alright, but I wasn't blown away by him. I thought he looked a lot better against Jackawiecz, though it stands to reason that he was lot more motivated for that fight. I can't confidently say I'd pick him to beat any Top 10 welterweight at the moment. He's on his way, but plenty of room for improvement
I was in the seventh row and Ward totally dominated with his left hand being so quick, he smothered Froch on the inside when needed, slipped his punches and shut him out for at least the first 8 rounds or so. He did not have th e power to hurt Froch but he totally dominated. I had the fight 118-110 as did "my mate" John Keene (the judge from the U.K.) had it. Very interesting fight as Ward put on a sort of boxing clinic. Great British fans...hard to root against our cousins and I was sort of leaning for Froch before the fight but Andre was not to be denied. GS
I haven't read through the entire thread, so not sure if I'm alone in this... but for me, the fight reached a point where - much like the tournament itself - I was just anxious for it to end already. Aside from what was at stake, I honestly can't recall one memorable moment from last night. Was a good win for Ward, and Froch was actually gracious in defeat. Beyond that... just felt like a fight I could've lived without, maybe because it turned out almost exactly like everyone (well, most sensible people) predicted.
You are pretty much right from my point of view. 9 was Froch for sure, possibly even 10 which was a close round and 5 had Froch starting toi improve getting in a left to Wards head. A bit of mxing it the end of the round. Still thought Ward took the round overall but I can see this one going the way you have it. GS
Scorecard from The Guardian...doesn't give Froch a round until the 9th http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/dec/18/andre-ward-carl-froch-super-six
I felt exactly that way going into the fight, but I enjoyed it, Ward showed a lot of moves and Frochj took all his shots in losing. Not a drity fight as I wxpected, Froch few a few rabbits in frustration but Smoger always lets the fighters duke it out. I came out way more pleased leaving the fight than going in . GS
Exactly as I had it...the Brit judge scored it better than the Canadien and American..very fair...nuff said..it is nice outside...GS
Brits are very, very strange. They nuthug British fighters like crazy, to the point of blindness etc, yet somehow they're generally pretty fair scoring wise, save for the odd corrupt decision in England. PS Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I don't agree with this...it became repetitive at pone point with Ward piling on round after round. When Froch finally won a round the interest (for me) started because it was clear Ward was a little gassed and bothered by the eye. In that respect the final rounds were interesting to see if Froch could pull out another late KO. I didn't mind the tournament. The only negative is how long it took, but regardless....save for one guy (Bute) the best guys in the division fought each other. There's a lot to be said for that. Look at the divisions below 168...you can't say the same. Lastly, at the start of the tournament everyone had a finale of Abraham vs Kessler picked as the final. While Ward had an easier road to the final, Froch proved he was rightfully slated as one of the top guys in the division. Over the past several years you'd be hard pressed to find a guy who fought as many top guys in their division as Froch. And I for one started the tournament as a Ward doubter. He proved to be a highly skilled fighter. These two points alone made the tournament a success in my eyes.
People really thought Arabham would be a finalist? Really? Like most sensible people - I didn't think he'd get one win. :kidcool:
The argument could be made that the tournament was memorable because Ward emerged as a really really good fighter to the total surprise of everyone bar a few select forumites. I don't agree with that logic- the events of the Khan vs Peterson fight are a good example of why not. Nobody expected Peterson to win but now that he has, and in pretty impressive fashion, very few people expect him to win a rematch, a very few people have him booked or regarded as a very good fighter. A fortiori, Not too many people dismissed Khan's chances versus Bradley, now, after a fight in which Bradley was only tangentially involved, he is suddenly a big fave over Khan. Has Bradley improved over the last week or has our perception of Khan merely dipped? If that much can change in the space of a week, then a lot can change in the space of a few years. Ward is always going to be a better boxer than Froch, its beyond dispute, but the path both men took to the final- and the paths the fighters that faced them took out of the tournament {Kessler especially}, can't be ignored either. For me, tournaments of this nature are unsuited to boxing. Boxing isn't soccer or basketball, it doesn't involve set teams and squads which are well established and can be subtly augmented or replenished during a coherent transfer period. Kesslers removal from the tournament having won a must-win fight, with a more favourable location for a rematch with Ward now a real possibility, was, for me, enough proof of the above assertion. Maybe its better to avoid a tournament format and just get promoters to engage with a network in a less stringent fashion but an equally rewarding one.
