Floyd usually has nice gear, as did the younger, slimmer Fernando Vargas.

Gorky Park was written in the 70s or early 80s iirc.. I know I read it in the early 90s. If that qualifies, Illuminatus Trilogy should qualify. Also try "Shockwave Rider" by John Brunner (written in 1975, it was an amazingly prescient book).

The Da Vinci code is like a homeless man's version of a couple of chapters in the Illuminatus trilogy. Dan Brown is a shit writer.

As far as modern fiction goes, I don't think anything beats Neal Stephenson (Diamond Age series, Snowcrash, Cryptonomicon, etc). His books are usually all awesome.

11/22/63 was OK, most of Stephen King's books are pretty decent. King always strikes me as a very good writer masquerading as a hack.

Same here, I was actually mistaken though in this instance - I was thinking of the fictional epic of his life, I think it was called "Musashi."

Gorky Park was written in the late 70's or early 80's at the latest. The fact that a guy called Cruz from California had such a handle on the then Soviet Union was amazing. It reads as if he was there. I regards it as an epic. The fact that I read it in a freezing cold house with no heating during the Winter may have helped me feel that way.

As much of a fucktard as Floyd is, it can't be denied he often has pretty nice looking suits, and various other clothes.

Agreed, Floyd is sneaky, it's all premeditated with him, being the cowardly bitch he is.

You're alright these days Neil, I'm glad you're starting to see the light.

Floyd is going to end up badly.

Next time he hits somebody..it's the big house.

Sadly, you felt the need to equate one with the other when the fact is, the clothes someone wears give no indication one way or the other as to his level of fucktardedness.

Most fucktards are pretty well dressed guys. Admit it. I wear only rags. And Jesus didn't even own a robe at the time of his death.

I think mws was saying that it flew in the face of what we'd expect that PBF dresses well. But I agree with you. It's fully in keeping with his fucktardedness that PBF dresses well.

Most charlatans or impression-oriented people dress well. When was the last time a scruff-ball Mormon tried to sell you some religion? Of course he is well dressed, he's trying to take your money.

    You're not a fucking mormon, are you????:nono::Thumbs:

    no. i'm not.

still, there's a lot of ass-holes out there who dress like shit. and some nice people who make a point of dressing well.

but i'm not among those who think that PBF dresses well (can't believe i'm discussing this). i think his clothes are cheesy and ostentatious.

When I say dress well I don't mean dress expensively. You can have an obscenely expensive suit or outfit that's as vile and vulgar as you like, or something that is affordable and stylish.

Basically Floyd is a vulgar, obnoxious lout - irrespective of the cost of his clothes, I simply thought he'd have more obnoxious taste in clothes than he does.

A bit cheesy yes, but less ostentatious and obnoxious than one would expect.

I have told you all for years. Floyd Mayweather is a homosexual. Read me now, realize my prophecy later.

I didn't care much for this book and I think the largest reason why is because I didn't read it until I was too old. It's a book I think I might have loved at 14 or 15, but I never got around to reading it until I was in my later 20s (probably about 27 or so) and I found myself wanting to slap Holden and tell him to quit complaining about everything... sort of a "talk to me when you grow up and have REAL problems" situation, I found myself a bit ashamed to react that way, but adolescent kids are really annoying from an older perspective

Catcher in Rye is awful. Unreadable. It is for 14 year old homosexuals and dummies who think they have a bright side.

what makes King so enjoyable, to me, is his imagination. He has wonderful IDEAS... His short stories are a real treat. His biggest issues, to me, are dialogue (he has a terrible penchant for cheese) and trouble with endings (in his books, anyway) ... he sometimes does a DLH/Trinidad down the stretch. But he has a great imagination. I recall a short story (I think it was in "Skeleton Crew") about a man who finds, to his horror, a live index finger pointing up out of the drain of his sink right at him... several pages of craziness follow this discovery. Who thinks of something like that?

Apparently Floyd once was asked what the greatest moment of his life was and he said "when I met Leonard Elerbee". He has 3 children, numerous world titles, and THAT was the greatest moment of his life?

Elerbee said he cried when he heard that Floyd said that about him.
