None of that Mayorga bullshit to sell tickets I'm talking about boxers who actually hated each other's guts and would fight each other for free if they run into each other on the street.

I find genuine hatred usually only exists on one end.

Yup. Boxing is all about topless sweaty hugging faggots. MMA is where true manly hatred is at.

Did MAB really hate him though? I guess he did, although he did go in for a handshake after the 3rd bout and Morales (who legit hated MAB) threw water on him.

Bowe/Tillery is a good one. Made for some hilarious boxing too.

I don't think Oscar hated Vargas.

Benn/Eubank was the first that came to mind for me. But again, I don't think Eubank hated Benn.

Bowe/Golota. I don't think they went for a beer after.

I'd say Bowe/Gonzales would be an even better example.

vargas went on the radio weekly for several years calling him gay and talking shit. he made sure delahoya hated him. in fact he hated the guy so much he didnt want to fight him to give him a payday until he saw the guy get wrecked by trinidad and then look shitty in subsequent bouts.

    Vargas-DLH
    Bowe-Lewis
    Holmes-Berbick
    Bugner-Cooper
Ali-Terrell (maybe-I suspect that Ali didn't really "hate" any opponent)

I don't know if Robinson hated Basilio, but Basilio hated Ray for snubbing him when he tried to shake Ray's hand, and for being an all-around dickhead.

Carmen later said "when he died, why lie, I didn't give a shit. He was the most arrogant man you'll ever meet"

yup... Fullmer hated Robinson, too. He wasn't a good guy at all, Robinson. Awesome fighter with everything you could want a guy to have, but he was a self-centered asshole.

Not surprisingly, Fullmer and Basilio got along pretty well

They didn't hate each other at all. In fact, they couldn't even refrain from laughing during promo shoots where it called for an intense staredown.

Cotto-Margarito is the best recent example.

They haven't fought (yet) but Brandon Rios-Victor Ortiz.

  21. Azazel

yep, great example, dissapointing that this fight never occured

Real grudge matches rarely have an international affair, it is usually local, national grudge stuff. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Basilio kept it up for years afterwards by saying that Willie Pep was the greatest fighter he had ever seen, and not Robinson.

That comment alone must have been acid to Benns street ears. Eubank said he didn't hate Benn, then went on to list all the reasons he didn't like him.:l1:

Eubank clearly didn't hate Benn though. He was dogging him.
