Other than his first fight when he fought a guy who fought for the Cuban National team, (Which, by the way, I thought his people at the time should have never taken the fight), I'm here to tell you he has some promise.

He was 24-3 as an amateur and two of those loses were to Lenroy Thompson, the #1 super heavyweight when they fought the second time. He's a former high school and college football player who has very good athleticism. In my opinion and in reality, his best weight range would be around 240-247.

He's reeled off three straight wins since that first loss and against solid competition considering the early stage of his career. Just keep an eye out; not because he's my boy, but because he has true talent and a decent amateur background. I've always believed that heavyweights do not need the ridiculously extensive amateur backgrounds.

    [1] that's just shitty managing

[2] this site http://dcboxing.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html shows him losing to Alen Abramyan via 4-1 decision. This is his 3rd am loss, correct?

[3] all of us want this to mean something, but it never does

[4] See [3]. Also, few, if any, offensive linemen are what most of us would consider to be 'athletic'

[5] how tall is he and why is he carrying around so much extra weight at 23 years of age? It's not like his weight has been coming off, either.

[6] wtf is his management thinking? A Cuban, 2-0, 5-3 (okay), and a 4-0 to start out his pro career?

[7] I disagree. Part of the reason this was the case in the past is because the best am heavies couldn't go pro. Now that they can and do, it's all the more important to have a substantial am background and preferably a substantial and successful am background. Guys who win in the ams tend to win in the pros. This guy's rankings, at the same site mentioned above, indicate that we all might as well get used to Eastern Euro's dominating the big guy division for a while:

    +91 kgs/+201 lbs - Super-Heavyweight
    1 Roberto Cammarelle ITA
    2 Vyacheslav Glazhov UKR
    3 Oscar Rivas COL
    4 Kubrat Puley BUL
    5 Seyed Akbar Hosseini IRN
    6 Sandor Abdullayev UZB
    7 Dennis Sergeyev RUS
    8 Shamil Gadzhiev RUS
    9 Newel Ouatah ALG

I've mentioned his issue with the weight and what I believe his best weight to be. I also know how there are some people on here who have ALL of the answers and are as omniscient as the Mayans; however, I do recognize how it was not the best management for starters, for his old manager is a friend of mine, too and I believe mistakes were made.

Also, he is pretty damn athletic, make no mistake. My biggest issue with him has been his consistency and discipline. It seems like he has some solid management guiding him now, and I do see enough ability in him, providing he continues to stay focused and dedicated. By the way, boxrec was wrong in that last fight! He did come in at 247!! Also, he was not an offensive lineman, he was a linebacker. He fought most of his amateur fights at 230, he's about 6'2"-6'3".

If you would take Trey's pecker out of your pie hole, maybe you'll see that I wasn't being an asshole, but making observations and stating opinions, none of which were critical of his son's ability since I've never seen him fight.

If Trey is correct and his son does have ability then his criticism of the management is overly kind. Trey can imply I'm being a Mayan all he wants, but you don't match up a promising heavy with other promising fighters early in his career. Maybe the 2-0 and 4-0 guys suck, but it's my opinion that a promising fighter should be well past 5-0 before they meet anyone with a pulse.

It's interesting that boxrec is off on his weight...not so much because they were off, but because they are off by such a specific amount...Trey says 247 but boxrec reported as 273 1/4? (?)

His weight indicates he was a lineman, but this is where I got it from http://search.jacksonville.com/fast...ville&querystring="AMATEUR HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER" where they say he was an offensive lineman.
