Most people are idiots. Thor, a film that is barely watchable, has 80% at RT.

 

Personally, I don't care what anyone thinks about Cruise, but MI 4 was a very solid watch.

Cruise is a solid actor with one of the more impressive resumes in the industry. It's OK to hate the guy but he isn't a horrible actor by any stretch. Cruise isn't selling tickets because he's hot anymore. The dude is almost 50 and teenagers aren't filling up theaters to see MI 4 because Cruise is 'dreamy'. They're going because it's a solid action flick that is visual entertaining and is amazingly directed.

The one thing I'll add about Cruise that ALWAYS commands my respect is that he performs so many of his own stunts that it allows some of the Mission Impossible action scenes to be incredible.

Love him or hate him, this dude has some Megatron-sized nads. And when you see how breathtaking these scenes are in the movie, it makes it even more impressive.

The first film is the only good one. The rest are just pop-corn/eye candy commercial films.

 

Saw Ghost Protocal over the weekend.

It blows.

Go see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo instead. MUCH better movie than this MI piece of shit.

I think a lot of people who don't like Cruise...are of the 'older generation' who despised him back then for his shit-eating-grin-cocky-as-fuck roles in 'Risky Business', 'Top Gun', 'Cocktail'....but still can't get over his shit-eating-grin-cocky-as-fuck persona.

Oh yeah, 'Ghost Protocol' was pretty good too...

 

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo looks terrible. The idea of a female hacker is so unbearably inane and stupid that I'm pretty sure it'd make the movie completely unwatchable.

Regardless of what Hollywood tells you,

a) there is no such thing as a female hacker

b) a woman can't kick a man's ass

For sure - MI2 was typical over-the-top John Woo bollocks.
MI3 was really good.

Aprt from that one blip, the franchise has been really good.

 

Yeah the third one was good. MUCH better than this Ghost Protocal bullshit. And the reason the 3rd one was good was MOSTLY due to Seymour Hoffman.

first hour or so of this movie is fucking excellent. haven't seen many action movies as good as that. i felt it tailed off a little toward the end, the twists and pacing were just a bit misjudged, but that first hour was amazing, really really fun, great humour, great action scenes, really slick. can't remember the first movie in detail but this seems to be the best of the series.

 

I saw it today...pretty good....
