If they had fought in 97-98, when Roy was still at his best, then I cant see any other result besides DM getting pot shotted to death all night. DM was a very good fighter, but Roy was so special that he would make DM look 2nd/3rd rate.
Don't get me wrong, I'd pick Roy, but to say he'd win 12-0 is absurd. Darius would take rounds and he'd make Roy work hard.
He'd only force Roy to open more. And forcing a prime Jones to open up more is not good....... for the opponent. DM was just too slow for Roy. And Jones DID hit hard enough to hurt DM. DM had a solid chin, but it wasnt granite. I'd give DM the edge over any 168-175 punder of today though. Even Ward.
Darius would apply more intelligent pressure than Roy has ever seen. Quite honestly i think it'd be a very hard fight for Roy.....watch the last 5 rounds of the Hopkins fight or what Griffin did against him. If you can press middle range against Roy and do so defensively responsibly Roy has allot of difficulties. That's where Darius lived. Roy isn't a superman, just a great fighter like other great fighters. I think he'd win, but it'd be as hard a fight as the first Griffin fight, maybe even harder.
:: It's all good. I'm glad you've seen the light. DM falls under a fairly simple formula against Jones... if he tries to win, he might win a couple rounds, but he would get stopped. If he doesn't try to win, he loses 12-0.
Well, as I said, he would win a couple rounds if he was there to win. I think that's fair. Roy was MUCH better.
I can't say I see Roy/DM being much of a contest. I think you need a guy with a better long range game and better defense to beat Roy. I'd say Jones 9-3 is generous to DM
